Ah, a reverse tu quoque. Well done, Huggy.
Morality does not require spirituality. Morality is a social construct that does not require supernatural elements.
Christianity attempts to do an end run around community morality by elevating "Sorry, Jesus!" to a privileged position it never deserved. It's a one-size-fits-all escape hatch for undesirable behaviour, when the first step should be restitution to the actual victim of the misdeed, not declaration of "spiritual bankruptcy."
I am fully aware that animals get hurt when we have meat for supper. I try to mitigate this by eating less meat and by occasionally cooking meatless meals.
At least we gain something of real value from eating meat - energy to sustain our bodies - but the Jesus pseudo-sacrifice has no real benefits. It's just an "Aww, poor Jesus!" jerking-around of emotions, and in the final analysis it changes nothing at all. Believers die, just like non-believers, and although the believers think they're getting eternal life out of the deal I doubt that very, very much.

Does a pardon absolve one of their misdeeds?
A pardon isn't the same as substitutive redemption. If the State vacates your conviction for murder via a pardon, you are no longer a murderer. If I go to prison for a murder you commit, you're still a murderer.

Fail..Fail..Fail That's not an answer to the question, furthermore Jesus wasn't demanded to do anything, He's God... who's making the demand?
Since it is axiomatic that God cannot behave in a manner contrary to his nature, God demanded he make a human sacrifice. That doesn't make substitutive redemption any less impossible.

Boru On the contrary, a pardoned murderer is still a murderer, he's just been absolved of punishment. In accepting a pardon you essentially admit you did the crime and therefore are accepting that you are being forgiven of that crime.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burdick_v._United_States
Quote:A pardon is an act of grace, proceeding from the power entrusted with the execution of the laws, which exempts the individual on whom it is bestowed from the punishment the law inflicts for a crime he has committed.
Quote:Justice Joseph McKenna delivered the opinion of the Court in favor of Burdick. The Court ruled Burdick was entitled to reject the pardon for a number of reasons, including the implicit admission of guilt and possibly objectionable terms contained in a conditional pardon.
