RE: Stupid things religious people say
Might wanna have his house tested for lead.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Here's an evidence for God that atheists conveniently ignore, which is when Bibles survive house fires. You ignore it because you don't have any explanation for it that doesn't include God himself intervening, and since you don't want to let go of your deviant sexual practices, you don't want to believe that God is real.

Quote:‘God does exist’: Family’s Bibles survive house fire

McMillan detailed the impact that the fire had on their pets. While some survived, others didn’t make it out alive.

But with nearly all their belongings reduced to rubble, the McMillans made a shocking discovery: three Bibles still surviving in the ashes.

“We did find our Bibles. After we did some digging, my son’s Bible actually made it through the smoke in there, but our Bibles are sitting over there. They’re a little wet, but they made it,” McMillan said. “It’s just ironic that the important things stayed and the material things are gone. It’s just proof that God does exist and that He’s number one.” source

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Shit,  am I missing out on some deviant sexual practices?  Why did no one tell be, I think I have a lot of catching up to do!  (pass me a choirboy quick!)
The meek shall inherit the Earth, the rest of us will fly to the stars.

Never underestimate the power of very stupid people in large groups

Arguing with an engineer is like wrestling with a pig in mud ..... after a while you realise that the pig likes it!

I’d be more impressed if their massive collection of vintage French porn survived the fire. That’s a god I could get behind (metaphorically speaking).

Pets aren't 'material things'. They're dependents their owners are responsible for.

It wasn't too long ago that one of our cats took ill with a bowel obstruction and required surgery (full recovery, btw). When my wife was recounting the story to a friend of ours, the friend risked life and limb by telling Ellen, 'Why would you spend all that money? It's only a cat.'

Can? Open. Worms? Everywhere.

My step-father was that way. He was a sharecropper, among many other things. If it was cheaper to get another animal than to pay for a vet he would put it down. One of the few times I defied him it was over a dog.

Wooden baby Jesus is helping Mexican soccer players win! Even the Vatican acknowledges it, and we all know what high standards these people have against bullshit.

Quote:Vatican elevates Soccer Baby Jesus to full pilgrimage status, citing ‘undeniable results’

The Vatican’s Congregation for the Causes of Saints has formally designated the Niño Dios Futbolero — or “Soccer Baby Jesus” — a wooden effigy of the infant Jesus dressed in an infant-sized Mexico national team jersey, as an official site of Catholic pilgrimage, placing it in the same devotional tier as the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, according to a decree read aloud today inside the Mexico City Metropolitan Cathedral.

The sacred figure has a tradition dating back to the first World Cup Mexico hosted in 1970, but has become even more beloved during this year’s tournament “for offering protection during games.” Soccer Baby Jesus has drawn an estimated 40,000 visitors in the past 10 days alone, a surge Cathedral officials attribute to Mexico’s upcoming World Cup round of 16 matchup with England. Church staff has added a second velvet kneeler to accommodate demand.

Reyes noted that the Vatican’s theological review committee had been on the case for mere days, ultimately concluding that while the statue’s miracles are “statistically inconclusive,” its attendance figures are not.

Souvenir vendors outside the Cathedral have adapted quickly, offering rosaries in the green, white and red of the national kit alongside traditional Guadalupe candles, with several stalls reporting the jersey rosary now outsells the classic model. One vendor, who has sold devotional items outside the Cathedral for years, said she has never seen anything like it. “People used to come here to ask for health, for family and for safe travel,” she said. “Now they come to ask for a clean sheet against England. I don’t judge. I just restock.”

By Friday, the Vatican had approved a limited liturgical calendar adjustment allowing the Niño Dios Futbolero a feast day to be observed on the day before any World Cup elimination game involving Mexico.

But the Jesus statue failed to help them win over England. (Article was written before the game) What a bummer. Seems like those guys in Vatican don't have high standards against bullshit after all. Or maybe the statue has magic powers, but people just didn't pray hard enough.

So, this championship has been a battlefield between gods. You know, "My god is stronger than your god". Catholic gods vs Anglican gods vs voodoo gods and so on.

Pastor Brian Sauvé wrote a song about the dangers of young women getting an education, a job, and independence.
