Stupid things religious people say
#51
RE: Stupid things religious people say
I believed in ghosts strongly as a child....right up to checking my windows and locks. Nowadays, I just nervously apprehend that I leave my doors and windows open.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Our imaginations are stronger when we're children, and it stands to reason that growing up means leaving childish notions behind.

"I can only assume people who keep believing want to keep believing. Far be it from me to enlighten anyone."

It doesn't have to be your calling to set everyone in the cult free. That's not your job, full stop. But you don't have to justify your lack of responsibility with "they must want to be deceived." Fuck right the hell off, lady. Looking back, I would have preferred to know the truth much sooner than I got it. And to be frank, I didn't go looking for the truth. I stumbled upon it looking for faith promoting stuff. So, not everyone who has their eyes opened was looking for it.

A NOM who still attends church said this, so, I thought it was borderline "religious people" saying stupid things.

It's not nice to confuse old farts.
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.

Quote:American Idol finalist David Archuleta said God told him to come out publicly after a conversation they had while he was “literally outside doing yard work”.

The singer, who is also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, proudly came out as part of the LGBT+ community in an Instagram post in June. Archuleta explained in the post that he felt he is part of a “spectrum of bisexual” and potentially could be asexual.

New Order Mormons

They stay in the cult out of a hope of changing the toxic doctrines and policies through voicing dissent. Some still believe yet they know about the scam history of the church. The ones I've talked to consider the history of the Mormon church to be "flawed"; they think it should be talked about openly among members, rather than have it whitewashed as it is at the current time. Thing is, if you know the history, then you know the truth claims the church makes are false. The book of Mormon. The stories of visitations Joseph Smith had. The claims of authority and temple rituals. None of it is truth.

Infiltrating the LDS church. Good luck to them.

Oh, no, how is an all powerful being ever going to recover from being made sad?
