Role Models

RE: Role Models
My parents, like it or not, influenced me most.  And grandparents after that, good and bad.  Aunts and uncles, as it happens, especially the horny ones.

As for the role models I chose:  Galileo, John Keats, and Glen Campbell.

I once looked into making Stevie Ray Vaughn my role model, but helicopters are fucking expensive.

If there is a thing such as ethics/morals and they are at all important, then yours are completely broken.  Thanks for confirming once again that theists morals are self-serving while atheists are actually looking out for everyone.
1 - Yeah that's ridiculous, and that's not how life works. Nothing is ever that black and white.

2 - Oh wow, I forgot to mention Joel Osteen, definitely a huge influence. He's an amazing speaker, his jokes are on point, and his message is wonderfully positive.

1) No, you stated yourself that if someone is gullible enough to believe in lies, then it's ok to feed them lies to enrich yourself.  The gospel of Merdoch.  You don't think that's morally bankrupt?

2) So you believe in prosperity gospel?  Pray for whatever you want and you'll get it?
Why is it so?

1) I don't care if it's morally bankrupt. But it's not really "morally bankrupt" anyway.

2) I always used to pray traditional prayers, meaning ones that had already been written. Rarely ever would I pray off the top of my head. I suppose it gave me some peace of mind.

1) So you consider yourself a "godly" or "spiritual" person, but you don't care about morals?  And how is it NOT morally bankrupt anyway?  Let's say you see a nice old lady sitting in a park.  You walk up to her and give her some sob story and con $100 bucks off her.  You don't consider that immoral or unethical?  Change the circumstances to anything you want, my point is that you are basically saying that being dishonesty and lying to get something you want is ethical?  I can tell you that this is counter to what most atheists believe.

2)  Joel Osteen's message is that is you are a good Christian and you pray hard enough, you'll receive pretty much anything you want.  Do you believe that?

1) Having morals is not a requirement for being a spiritual person. I have enough morality to make it in society, and that's all I need.

2) His message isn't about prayer, it's about belief. Basically the idea that if you believe good things will happen, they will happen. Of course, this wouldn't work out for everybody, so it's not entirely true, but there is some truth to it.

Don't you mean it wouldn't work for everybody nor every desire/wish?

1) That depends entirely on what spirituality you're talking about.  If you worship Norse gods then kicking the shit out of your enemies is key.  But if it's anything close to Christianity, then not fucking innocent people is key.  At least that's what they teach in church, not that they actually practice it.  Maybe that's why you have no morals.

2) Yes, that's just another way of saying the same thing.  And why wouldn't it work for everyone?  Are some people the chosen ones?

1) Well here's the thing, Catholicism is not really Christianity, I mean it was for the good kids, but me and my friends never considered ourselves Christians.

2) You would have to ask God, why it doesn't work for everyone.
