2)  Problem is, if gods even exist, they don't actually speak to people; people just hear what they want to hear.  But how do you even know that it doesn't work for everyone?  Let me guess, lots of people believe but only some get what they want?  And you think this proves that prosperity gospel works?  That's called confirmation bias.  We can demonstrate this will multiple different tests.  It comes down to people believe what they want to believe and they filter information to suit those beliefs.

1) They're not all cults. That's narrow-minded.

2) God must play favorites, because some people get to be happy, while others don't. But I see nothing wrong with this.

Perhaps you're narrow minded about cults, Ahri. As to the other thing - we get it, you're an immoral person.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

I don't need to be moral, God covers that base for me. God is moral, so I don't need to be.

Why do atheists like to pretend they're moral people just because they don't believe in God?

1)  No, that's my opinion of all religious modalities.  They all are center around worshiping invisible entities.  Religion; cult, same difference to me.  Major religions define it differently, but it's just a matter of degree.  If you have a few hundred or few thousand people, they call you a cult.  If you have millions, you're a religion.  Of course that's not universally true.  Many Evangelicals consider Mormons to be a cult and certainly Scientologists.  And you can't really include things like abusive treatment either because almost all Christian religions have used abusive treatment of one kind or another.

I should have also mentioned that all of those Catholics don't consider everyone who calls themselves a Christian to be one, either.

2)  Again, that's you speaking and you imagining what a god would think; there's nothing objective about it.  I could do that, too.  To me, god would not play favorites but would want all of its creations to flourish and would do everything possible to make that happen.  In fact, the Christian god claims just that, to love all his creations the same.  The reality is that not only is god the result of human imagination, each individual creates his/her own god.

Because, without God, it's up to us to make a decent, fair world. We're obliged to be moral. Theists can and do, as you say, just "recline in God's arms." And that, ladies and gentlemen, is the number one reason I disdain religion. That and the lack of logic and/or evidence for any gods' existence.

Why? People aren't obliged to be moral, with or without God. I used to know two atheist brothers (in real life) who would hold you at knife point if you had nice shoes. I'm pretty sure they didn't feel "obliged to be moral".

I didn't see this before.

So you can go around and abuse people, steal, cheat, be dishonest and god will just cover for you?  Is that it?  Basically that's paganism.

We don't pretend, we usually are more moral.  It's about choices and how one treats other people, and the motivation for that treatment.  I'm not kind to people because a god tells me he will punish me if I'm not.  I do it because I know what its like to be hurt by someone and I don't want to inflict that on others.
