So he needs to be more of a loudmouth before you approve of him?

So when does Bill get his Nobel Prize nomination?

That’s not remotely what I said. I don’t know (nor much care) what his opinions are regarding spaceflight.

That said, I’d like to change my earlier answer: Yes. Shatner’s opinions on spaceflight ARE irrelevant. Why? Because he’s an actor. He’s not an engineer, a scientist, or a public policy maker. Therefore, his opinions on this matter have no relevance.

So that bilge rat Greta Thunberg' s opinion means shit as well? After all - she is ONLY famous for being cargo... At least Shatner has a career....

Hell - Greta isn' t even a high school graduate....

Yes, I would say that Ms. Thunberg’s opinions on space travel are just as irrelevant as Shatner’s.

Anyone can have an opinion about space travel, but unless they’re in a position to actually do something about it, those opinions have no relevance.

If Shatner would like to express his opinion on what it takes to be a cultural icon, I’ll give him my full attention.

Clumsy dodge there mate.

You know damned well we are comparing Greta' s  "relevance" as a "climate activist".

Hell - Shatner has her beat - he can at least ACT like he knows what he' s talking about.

All Greta does is stick out her lower lip and whine a bit.

When it come to climate activism, Thunberg is relevant, and she’s done a helluva lot more than ‘stick out her lower lip and whine a bit’.

I’d say she’s much more relevant to climate activism than Shatner is to space travel.

With all the various billionaire rocket launches in the past year, there were other passengers whom were scientists and better "firsts".

But regardless, I really hate media calling them astronauts. That is like arguing you are a pilot of a passenger jet because you bought first class ticket.

I am really happy for Shatner. But if everything is remote control, and you are merely along for the ride, you are a passenger.

It is great that he did what he did. And even in acting, I love the original Star Trek for it's value of diversity,  and especially his cameos on The Big Bang Theory.

On reflection, Sagan (were he still alive) would have been a very inappropriate choice, and probably would have turned down the invite - he wasn’t a fan of manned space travel.

Jesus H Fuckin Kayrist.

Are you shitting me?

She is a fucking SHILL.

She has NO qualifications whatsoever. She is barely old enough to be an authority on which end of the playpen smells better.

The only thing she is relivant to is the media circus brought together for her to make her famous FOR BEING CARGO.

If Greta does nothing else, she has gotten the attention of the generations that will be most affected by climate change if nothing is done.

I'm certainly not going to say that she's too young to be knowledgeable about the topic.

And Shatner never inspired anyone, never got anyone to look up at the stars and make them think " I want to go THERE..."????

Why do you think she IS knowledgeable?

Face it -

He' s an astronaut.

She is a boat person.

The fact that I can spot hype and bullshit better than you hardly entitles me to a paycheck from Chevron.

But if you can arrange it - I' ll be happy to cash the checks.
