GOD's Mercy While It Is Still Today - Believe!
#11
RE: GOD's Mercy While It Is Still Today - Believe!
No way, man. Winterhold, for better or worse, proposes extraordinary things. "Hell is a black hole" for instance. That's way more interesting than a mere recitation from a holy book.

I, like Nay Sayer, do wonder what MercyVessel hopes to accomplish with their posts.

I've spoken with many Christians over many different kinds of sites on the internet. I can see that MercyVessel is an intelligent and well-meaning person, but quite frankly, I've had more substantive discussions with flat earthers and fundies. The spamming of Bible verses suggests that MercyVessel is more into self-satisfied pedantics than discourse. Which is a shame.

I wish the OP had just been the first paragraph and then MercyVessel defending the position with one or two supporting ideas. That'd have been way better than what we got. And mind you, I LOVE exchanging with theists, as most of you know.

They are only here to proselytize, How they've remained here for as long as they have is a mystery.

I respectfully ask if you have met Winter?

Same stuff, different holy book.

Ignore it if you can't follow the 'serious' directive as laid out by Boru.
There isn't anything in the op's copy and paste salvo that contains any serious matter to discuss, but alright.

Winter actually puts effort into his crazy preaching and actually engages in discussion. This is just lazy copy and paste with no real input from the OP.

I think this is an abuse of the forum' rules to try to stifle ridicule of what this person must realize is a subject percieved by atheists here as ridiculous.

We respect your right to believe in such things - but hold the things you believe in as poorly written sado- masochistic fiction.

So Mercyvessel is threatening us with his God to convert to his religion. Like when he quotes John "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son", and yet many places in the Bible we see otherwise, like when God drowned the world, and in 1 John 2:15 God says completely the opposite: "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him."

And indeed the John 3 continues with saying that people are condemned - that is not love - along with other threatening words that Mercyvessel writes.

Yes, that is the only reason Mercyvessel and his dumb book give us as a reason to accept Jesus - to avoid his vengeance. God would put mafia to shame. Which is not only pathetic, but Mercyvessel and anyone else who adheres to this philosophy has had his sense of morality, decency, justice, and humaneness warped beyond recognition by the very book that is supposedly preaching the opposite.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

This obviously is not a choice but an ultimatum, and you sound like some pathetic lackey working for a mafia boss carrying around his threats.

Sin is gravely serious - resulting in the first and second deaths/death of body and soul - and should be taken seriously!

"And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment" - Hebrews 9:27

The message, the good news: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting lifeFor God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be savedHe who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." - John 3:16-18

A warning of the inevitable for the unbelievingAnd He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son. But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.” - Revelation 21:6-9

Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says:
Today, if you will hear His voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, in the day of trial in the wilderness, where your fathers tested Me, tried Me, and saw My works forty years. Therefore I was angry with that generation, and said, ‘They always go astray in their heart, and they have not known My ways, so I swore in My wrath, ‘They shall not enter My rest.’ - Hebrews 3: 7-11

God’s Mercy is to save me from himself?    He should go all the way and just don’t bother me at all.   That seems to be the same as bing saves.

Mercyvessel, you seem to think that belief is a choice. I do not.

I do not find the Bible stories to be believable, and I think that your god is fictional. I can't change this perception - it's a logical conclusion rather than a conscious decision.

I also think it's unwise to put any trust at all in a deity that would punish people for an inability to believe.

I'm just gonna say this is not a topic deserving of the serious tag, and it's a perfect example of why I opposed it's creation is first place.

Also, @OP, thanks but no thanks.
