GOD's Mercy While It Is Still Today - Believe!

Sounds like a threat, to me. A hollow, hollow, threat. I pity the OP for being so convinced.

Also, @OP,  thanks but no thanks.

My 2 cents...I think if someone has a personal issue that they need input and/or support with, I think the serious tag is appropriate. This OP is not that.

The OP seems to think that believing is a choice, as though I can decide to believe at 9:00 on Monday morning. It does not work like that, I need to see some compelling proof before I believe anything, this hasn't happened on 67 years so probably won't happen now.

Nor is it in any way logical or fair for belief itself to be a criteria for judgement, which is IMO a very compelling reason not to believe it to be true... as anything other than an insecure, man-made fiction.

The problem with all of these quotes from a "holy" book is that, in the end, it's nothing more than an utter load of complete bollocks (seriously).

The threat of an eternity of suffering if you don't believe in nothing more than fear mongering. It has been said that religion is the greatest scam invented by man. It promises that you'll have a great time in the afterlife if you obey its leaders during your life, but no one can come back and complain afterwards.

The "gave his only begotten son", is also a load. He supposedly knocked up some poor Jewish girl with himself to change his own rules! This is the very best the creator of the universe, who can do anything with a thought, could come up with?

And giving up his long weekend to become god-emperor of the cosmos is hardly a sacrifice, is it? I'm not discounting the pain and suffering of any crucificion, it must truly be horrendous, but it seems a minor inconvenience for Jesus.

And then there's the fact that everything contained in the three Abrahamic religions haved "occurred" in a relatively tiny and isolated part of the Middle-East.

Why not one of the great civilizations of the time, China or Rome, itself?

@Mercyvessel

Of course, it’s easy for us with our 21st Century, materialistic minds to dismiss the Bible as a load of rubbish. But in the actual analysis, that is exactly what the Bible turns out to be---a load of rubbish! It is a book of nonsensical, fantastic stories about talking animals, talking bushes, mythical creatures, people rising from the dead, magic and pseudo-history. It is the creation of ignorant, fallible men, reflecting the prejudices, superstitions, bad theology and fears of the times in which it was written. It promotes slavery, ethnic cleansing, race prejudice, wars of conquest, the subjugation of women, child abuse and genital mutilation. It promotes the worship and celebration of a god who is little more than an egotistical, homicidal, fear-mongering tyrant. It is a book which any reasonable, intellectually honest, and intelligent person should heartily dismiss as bad fiction.

My (relatively) new job in a care home for people with profound and debilitating neurological illnesses, many genetic in origin, gives me a precise if not malevolent "incite" into "Thor's" mercy. Can you guess what I perceive on this one OP? Or doth thou run and hide and (hopefully) rethink...

Since, based on Staff discussion, there is nothing serious about the OP, the Serious tag has been removed, as has my caution regarding it.
