Yes, but it is amazing how many times I hear this. The reaction is always about rewriting history when of course that's not what's happening. What I would love to happen is for people to speak honestly. No intelligent person can believe removing monuments has anything to do with rewriting history; it has to do with what we deem worthy of honor and celebration. They may say "rewriting history" but what they mean has to be "honor the Confederacy".
Why is it so?

The monuments were, themselves, a re-write of history.
It's one thing to say that southern soldiers fought like demons. That's true. If the us were as intense as the confederacy on the battlefield it would have been a whole hell of alot easier for the us to defeat them. It's another to erect monuments to the Lost Cause after the cause is lost, and occluding what that cause was, in mere reality.

Yes and this really confounds me. I understand all of the evolution aspects of this and I know little kids are indoctrinated, but it seems like we as a race should be beyond this by now. Why is this still a thing?

If Trump runs, he will win the primaries. He has the GOP even out of office sucking his dick. Nobody put him in his place the first primary. Trump knows how to do the WWE Jerry springer act. Having said that, no matter what swing voters think of Biden currently, I think enough of them had buyer's remorse the first time they voted for the orange turd. Remember there were swing voters who voted for Obama then the former guy.
I think what should scare sane people is that outside the Presidency there is a collective effort by the GOP to take away the rights of voters at all levels.

In the 2024 primaries Trump will face new versions of himself, candidates that will try to out Trump Trump. They will hold him accountable for things like losing the WH and both houses of congress. They will criticize his ham fisted handling of the pandemic and will likely call into question his associations with Russia and North Korea and his failure to "build the wall" and make Mexico pay for it. They will question every single mistake he made while in office and they have a LOT of material to work with. But this is the most important point. If one of those guys (and it will be a white guy) wins, he will be far worse than Trump.

True, but as far as the Presidency, look at all the outrageous crap that sicko said to win the nomination the first time. Again, I'd worry more about 22 and 24 down ballot offices. At those levels I so think the orange sock puppets can impact the outcome of down ballot states.
