The tariff is a national sales tax. It also disrupted supply chain, especially for electronic components. (It was a bitch just finding capacitors.) Which is why the tax break didn't boost GDP growth above Obama era peak, before falling off, then tanking. Plus they miss the fact that China and Europe just retaliated with tariffs of their own, as countries always do, which stifles trade. US Farmers actually lost a HUGE amount of exports during Trump's term because their products were all taxed to death. What did Trump do? Why he bailed them out, of course. Something else Trumpsters keep saying they hate, gov. bailouts.
