If we're allowed to talk about the country that is waging proxy war against Russia, then talking about the US is relevant.

Anyway, what I wanted to achieve was to get away from simplistic, Good vs. Evil, James Bond movie-type political views, and think about the background of these long-running conflicts.

Also I reject the idea that I have been "defending" Russia. I have been trying, through looking at many different sources, to get an accurate picture of what is going on.

There is no such thing as proxy war on russia, only russia imperialist war against Ukraine.

You can't run from "simplistic" good vs evil view when country that invaded Ukraine is almost cartoonishly evil.

Your rejection means shit when in the same post that you deny defending russia you're spewing crap about "proxy war" on it.

OK, never mind.

I would say that I hope you will find receptive audience elsewhere but there is no sense in lying so blatantly.
The first revolt is against the supreme tyranny of theology, of the phantom of God. As long as we have a master in heaven, we will be slaves on earth.

Ukraine wishes it were a proxy war.  Would have been over years ago. Turns out russia is a joke.

Translation: I can't defend the points I've made, so I will not reply to your points.

You're an apologist for naked aggression. You use agitprop points delivered to you. You're not fooling anyone. And as shown here, you refuse to even defend that horseshit when called to task.

That flush is getting louder.

I heard recently that a man from small-town Kansas went to fight in Ukraine and came home in a box.

https://www.cjonline.com/story/news/stat...565162007/

I've been to Garden City, and it's about the most boring place you can imagine, but I think his plan for excitement didn't work out well for him.

Anyway, although the Ukrainian International Legionnaires under the Ground Forces of Ukraine is "being effectively dismantled" according to their website, it's still possible to join the war.

Only after you first go and live under Russian occupation, which you claim is so wonderful.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Meanwhile, Russia’s military is dealing with mass desertions, the country is slipping into a recession, and they’re not as confident about winning as they claim to be. Cope, Kremlin Gremlin.

Similar to North Koreans, Syrians, or Egyptians who were recruited or sent to Ukraine to fight for Russia and essentially used as cannon fodder.

Meanwhile, Russia is pulling recruits from prisons and mental institutions, suggesting lowering the enlistment age to 16, raising the conscription age to 30, and even bringing in people in their 40s and 50s.

RE: Russia and Ukraine
Very interesting speech from Merz, on the subject of Europe and Russia:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=61TBVn3SdiU

He sounds conciliatory, suggesting that at some (unspecified) point in the future relations with Russia should be repaired. He points out, correctly, that Russia is a European country.

The propaganda ever since the Cold War has tried to paint Russia as alien. But anyone who has read the literature sees how its culture is European. The upper classes in Dostoevsky, for example, speak French at home. (And some English translations put the Russian into English while leaving the French -- assuming we'll be able to read it.) Nabokov's memoirs of his childhood show how connected his family was to the rest of Europe -- vacationing on the Mediterranean, employing English- and French-speaking nannies for him and his brother.

Inter-European wars have been pretty common, but eventually the businessmen want to re-establish trade. Russia has too much oil and gas to ignore forever.

Ambassadors from 32 countries recently greeted Putin at the Kremlin, including the ambassadors from France, Sweden, and Norway. People are ready for this to be over.

I suspect that when the military industrial complex finds another shiny object to dangle in front of us, Merz and others will walk away from Ukraine (as Trump seems to want to do) and it will be left to its fate. Just as the US did with Afghanistan.
