Well, thus is just delightful.
Russia Steals Ukrainian Farm Equipment, Gets Remotely Locked Out
Quote:Russian troops occupying the Ukrainian city of Melitopol stole nearly $5 million of farm vehicles from a John Deere dealership and shipped some of them more than 700 miles to Chechnya, , only to find they had been rendered useless by a remote-locking system that prevented the thieves from turning the equipment on.
"When the invaders drove the stolen harvesters to Chechnya, they realized that they could not even turn them on, because the harvesters were locked remotely," a source familiar with the incident .
While I have no doubt that there are Russian computer whizzes skillful enough to bypass the lockout, this has still got to be a bit of an embarrassment - Ukrainians have used farm equipment to steal Russian tanks, so Russia responds by stealing Ukrainian farm equipment, which they can’t use.

That's nothing in the russians theiving dept. Two russian units got into a firefight over loot. They'll leave their dead behind - but not that fucking fridge.

I normally cuss John Deere... They are rabid capitalists. They overcharge for their products. They try to prevent you from doing your own maintenance. They try to restrict their service information.
But yeah, gotta cheer them fucking the commies......

Russian state television has issued a chilling warning that Moscow could wipe out Britain with a nuclear tsunami in retaliation for supporting Ukraine.
In his Sunday evening primetime show, the Channel One anchor Dmitry Kiselyov said a strike by Russia’s Poseidon nuclear underwater drone could turn Britain into a wasteland by drowning the country in a 500-metre tidal wave of radioactive seawater.
“The explosion of this thermonuclear torpedo by Britain’s coastline will cause a gigantic tsunami wave. Having passed over the British Isles, it will turn whatever might be left of them into a radioactive wasteland”

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Given that the hypothesised tidal wave would radiate 360 degrees from the point of detonation I fail to see how the UK could be targeted without also flooding, say, France/Spain/Germany/New York/Norway etc etc etc. I was also not aware of this weapon's existence and given the depths of the propaganda emanating from Russia at the moment I'm sceptical that such a weapon does, in fact, exist at all.

If Putin did any of the things he threatens, not only would there be a nuclear exchange, but Putin, if he survives, would be the target of hundreds of paid assassins. His only way of surviving would be to live in a hole in the ground.

And hopefully that would work out as well for him as it did for Saddam.

If only Boris Johnson's pronouncements on the (paraphrased) "courageous, righteous struggle of the innocent Ukrainian people in the face of an aggressor violating the sanctity of a sovereign state" didn't smell more than a tad hypocritical given the Blair/Bush invasion of Iraq. There is perhaps some refuge to be had in the knowledge that Saddam was more dictator than democratic expression....not all that free then, Saddam's Iraq.
