My thoughts are that him doing such a thing actually happening is all doubtful.
It could be done, but I don't think it's likely and even if it does happen I'm not sure Putin could survive politically. I agree that it's very doubtful he'd try, given his maximalist goals.
If he is deposed, he'll have few places to go. He has too many enemies in Russia and a warrant for his arrest outside it.
That sounds good. Only time will tell if it happens, though.
So, who issued that warrant for his arrest?

The ICC has 123 member states, which are obliged to arrest him in their jurisdiction. This is why Putin appeared at last summer's BRICS conference by video-link rather than traveling to South Africa.

I see.
It might be hard to do right now, since he rules Russia and he should have diplomatic immunity right now, with diplomatic immunity being an outdated concept, is it not?
Well, I do hope Putin eventually ends up paying for his crimes. He can only lie so much to his people, and with his arrest warranted, even if he wins the war, he might not have long to control Ukraine or do what he wants with it, whatever happens; he just has so much going against him that he may not be able to celebrate any victory for so long.

Nope tax evasion is unethical period and illegal and helping Ukraine is not wasteful in any way shape or form.

I used it as an example. Other 2 articles are about the US.
It doesn't matter because it can't affect Russia's foreign policy. Why do you believe that foreigners can't discuss US politics?
Wrong. Wrong and Wrong
Quote:Lack of Russia's military capabilities was obvious to everyone several months afther the start of the invasion. Funding the war in Ukraine beyound this point is completely unnecessary and doesn't benefit American taxpayers in any way.
Nope Ukraine is still in peril and stopping Russia from taking Ukraine benefits everyone. You are an ignorant fool.

It doesn't apply in this case, because the signatories agreed that in the event of a warrant, such niceties are set aside. He gets no immunity from being Russia's ruler.

Likely true. He recently turned 71 is rumored to have some health issues, the extent(s) of which aren't clear.
I suspect he invaded Ukraine because he wanted to cement his place in Russian history by rebuilding Old Russia as it was in Tsarist times -- and he knew he wasn't getting any younger.
Instead, it appears his legacy will be the bankrupting of his country for at least a generation, and its entry into a Chinese orbit.

Russians told us they captured all of Bakhmut back in May. Haven't done much with it. One time in the US civil war about 12,000 men marched a mile over sun-baked fields into the mouths of Union cannon and musket fire. Maybe two hundred of 'em got up and over the stone wall where the boys in blue were holed up. Nothing much came of that either.

That is interesting. I wish Trump could have done something to get a warrant for his arrest issued. Even though it may have been unlikely since the beginning of his presidency, he seemed like the guy who would do something as bad as Putin to warrant this.
And yeah, he was like many who were stuck in the past. That said, whatever happens, I don't think he will last so long as a ruler and as a person after that.

Thanks for telling me all this. Seems like there is incompetence there. That may be part of what adds to Russia's downfall in this war. Nice bringing up the US civil war, too.

He actually has had a warrant issued for his arrest. Trump turned himself into the authorities in Georgia and is now standing trial.

Yeah, I knew that. I meant a warrant issued from the ICC to Trump, though, unless I am missing something.

I support Putin and war in Ukraine for religious reasons. I still don't understand why it matters to you. If you could convince me or even majority of Russians it still won't change anything because Russia is NOT a democracy.
I support the removal of Putin vis high velocity lead injection and the total destruction/break-up of Russia for decency reasons.
