History of abolishing God from the society
#31
RE: History of abolishing God from the society
I'll never understand why god botherers insist everyone else is as ignorant as they are.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

It's not "ignorance" just because you don't agree with it. Now that would be an ignorant attitude. You and I don't see things the same way, which is fine.

It's not not ignorance just because we don't agree with it, too.

Personally, by the way, I'm indifferent to not existing. It's not like I'd be aware of it to care.

You're the one who said that you didn't know shit.  That's ignorance.  Other people know things that you don't. Are you similarly ignorant of that fact as well?

I think that's another item involved in the secularization of the world. The veil of ignorance the faithful asserted just isn't credible anymore, if it ever was..as they didn't seem to believe god was an unknowable until it became their negotiated position between faith and reality.

Survive in this miserable world.

If theists find this world miserable and they think there is some wonderful god and has a utopia called heaven, then why don't they commit suicide and transfer their souls to heaven?

It's the same thing with neighborhoods. If your neighborhood is a terrible place, then it makes sense to move.
If you job is terrible, then you look for a new job and quit your old job as soon as you find a new job.
Same for countries.......
......
......

That's what the Heaven's gates guys did. They committed suicide and there was an alien vessel behind the hail bop come. The aliens transferred their souls to the space ship and they went to the utopia.
I have heard that some ancient christian sect had the same notion. I think they were called the cathars and it originated in France. They were telling people what a terrible place this is and they were encouraging people to not have children. Eventually, the pope had them all killed.

Are you blind? What a ridiculous argument. I might be excited for the afterlife, but why would I do "that" and ruin my loved ones' lives?

Because suffering is soul forging?
