Advances in science are not made by an appeal to authority. Also, there are plenty of people who have placed cameras on weather baloons who have come to the opposite conclusion, that there is no visible curvature to Earth and that the horizon always rises to the eye level of the observer. Unless of course you use a fish-eye lense.

That makes no sense regardless of the shape of the Earth
If I'm looking straight ahead at the horizon, and as I were to go straight up the horizon always stays directly ahead of me, then that means the ground in the distance is rising too. I think people would notice that happening.

Those satellites would be clipping into the ends of the inverse arch, and reading a flat surface on the opposite side as a consequence of their orbits matching it's curvature on that leg.

The view of the night sky from different places on Earth proves that the Earth is a sphere. QED.

There are dozens of pieces of evidence that can be calculated or measured by the average person. The fact that a flat-Earther doesn't bother to test their own claims tells you all that you need to know about them.

Flat Earth for most is a fun joke. For the real believers, it is a group that they can belong to and feel special. It is no different than other conspiracy theory groups, or for that matter, religions.
