The shape of Earth
RE: The shape of Earth
This is NOT an experiment you can do at home, but very interesting.

This can be done on Earth in a vacuum chamber.

OFC you can, they filmed that in a tank on a set with a plastic wrench and a lead feather dontchaknow!

Some people seem to proud of their ignorance of basic science, yet seem quite happy to display their ignorance using a computer!
The meek shall inherit the Earth, the rest of us will fly to the stars.

Never underestimate the power of very stupid people in large groups

Pretty much every government on Earth considers Earth to be spherical.

So, just out of curiosity, why would the government along with all the governments in the world fake all the footage and lie about Earth being spherical? What's in for them to spread such a "hoax"?

What does the word govern mentality mean?

Why would someone make you believe a massive lie? Well maybe because it makes all of their smaller lies easier to digest. You were fed a narrative that you never validated with your own eyes, ears or experiences and then told that's how science works.

Well here I am, one who knocks on the door and askes for a scientific answer to a scientific truth claim. Have you any evidence or are you just spinning your 3-D simulated globe?

So far I've heard everyone of these arguments before and found plenty of video proof to the contrary circa YouTube 2016.

Can YouTube videos be faked? Why do you blindly trust YouTube videos? Wake up sleepy sheeple!

Depends on how solid the rubber, but if it is less dense than the medium it is surrounded by then it will float.

Using the displacement of liquid to measure the volume of a stone? Not sure how that proves Newton's theories about perpetual motion, you might want to explain that a little more.

Same goes for using fire to suck up liquid into a vacuum.

Yes, precisely. If it is less dense than the surrounding medium, it will float. Why? because at that point the force of buoyancy is larger than that of gravity.

Now, take a ball that is more dense than water. it will sink. But how much will it weigh in the water? The answer is the weight outside of the water minus the weight of the water that would occupy that volume.

The same happens in air: the weight of anything (rock, balloon, etc) will be the weight outside of the air minus the weight of the air for that volume.

In the case of the rock, the weight outside of the air is much larger than the weight of the air, so it sinks. For a balloon, it is less, so it floats.

Now, why is there a weight outside of the air?

Density = Weight (Mass) / Volume

There is a cool way of measuring the density of something like a gold coin.

1) Measure the exact weight of the coin. Call this A.
2) Put a beaker of water on a precise scale. Measure the weight.
3) Put the coin on very light string, and dangle it in the water. Measure the new weight.
4) The difference in weight is B.

When the coin is dangled, the weight on the scale increases by the weight of the VOLUME of WATER that the coin displaces (not the weight of the coin, since it is suspended).

The fraction A/B is the density with respect to water for the coin. Since the specific density of water is close to 1, this becomes the grams/cc density for the coin.
