I was listening to Kyle MacLachlan's new autobiography because he seems like a funny guy. The book is not as funny as I expected, but it is interesting. Although I am a bit chagrined about what a mamma's boy he is, like he initially refused the role in Blue Velvet because his mom didn't like the script, and then he refused the leading role in Platoon for pretty much the same reasons.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"
