RE: The Absurd GOP
The GOP used a Two Santa Clauses tactic to con America for nearly 40 years

First, when Republicans control the federal government, and particularly the White House, spend money like a drunken sailor and run up the US debt as far and as fast as possible. This produces three results – it stimulates the economy thus making people think that the GOP can produce a good economy, it raises the debt dramatically, and it makes people think that Republicans are the “tax-cut Santa Claus.”

Second, when a Democrat is in the White House, scream about the national debt as loudly and frantically as possible, freaking out about how “our children will have to pay for it!” and “we have to cut spending to solve the crisis!” This will force the Democrats in power to cut their own social safety net programs, thus shooting their welfare-of-the-American-people Santa Claus.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

I know, let's put a big tariff on our biggest trading partner. It would come down to a sales tax on consumers but be described as inflation.

We'll make a killing.

When the chump imposed tariffs, a person I know was saying what a great thing they were. I asked him if he realized that that meant what he bought made in China was going to cost HIM more. Took awhile to sink in, and he has an accounting degree.

Republicans run up the debt because they think Jesus will rapture them out before the bill comes due.

Ah, Obama is such a voice of reason in this insanity.

I think all Republican and / or MAGA supporters should have a look at this first:

https://www.yahoo.com/news/russias-prigo...44580.html

- Russian businessman Yevgeny Prigozhin who is often referred to as "Putin's chef" aid on Monday "We have interfered (in U.S. elections), we are interfering and we will continue to interfere. Carefully, accurately, surgically and in our own way, as we know how to do." –

Of course this warning goes to all the supporters of many right-wing political movements all over the world: Putin is known to be paying Marine Lepen in France and the AFD movement in Germany. He has close ties with Victor Orban, Jair Bolsonaro and his excellency of Turkey. And He recently sent a box of vodka to Silvio Bernuscolli (who I see as the boss of the current Italian far-right prime minister Georgia Melloni).

If I was a US citizen, even though I could vote republican in ordinary times, I would probably not do such a thing in the present moment,  Smile

Right-winger overestimates the number of trans children going on puberty blockers by about 995,220 people and gets fact checked in real time:

Given that, according to Wikipedia, Walsh is a practicing Catholic, it’s probably fitting to insist he contemplate on this maxim from St. Augustine, one of the Doctors of the Church

What an ass. When he's shown to be wrong, he's all, "you can't trust the numbers." Yet 30 seconds earlier he was asking you to trust what he thought the numbers were.

These people are simply evil.

I love that his attempt at moderating his numbers was to go from being 995,220 people and change off to 95,220 people and change off.

And a bit more in the category of "Ain't That Cute, But it's WRONG!", seeing that one of the demographics they bombed with in the midterms was single women, there's a surprising push of right-wing pundits trying to get people to marry young in the hopes that the mere act of marrying will make them more right-wing.

You've got to love the fact that they've forgotten that a crucial difference between the two demographics is that single people skew younger than married people, and that a lot of their messaging involves talking absolute shit about issues they're closer to and can more easily see through. Like arguments that millions of kids are trans now, even though they're still pretty rare. Even when 121,882 youths are diagnosed with gender dysphoria over five years, that's still 1 in 500, easily enough for many kids to either say "Hey, I know one of these trans kids and they're actually okay," or, if they haven't actually met one, ask "where is this bullshit the Republicans are crowing about?"
