To repeat, the USCP had every right to open fire that day, and in my opinion should have. Fuck the optics. These assholes need to know that insurrection carries consequences.

I got pushback elsewhere for saying the same thing. If this had happened in Los Angeles, there would have been more casualties. It wouldn't have taken long for the stupid to stop. I don't condone needless killing, and the LAPD has issues, for sure. But any officer getting sprayed with mace or attacked with a metal object has a right to defend themselves. I'm astonished that the police in DC didn't.

They exhibited self-control the vast majority of us would not. I know I wouldn't, were I retreating under a hail of blows. I'd shoot to kill in the circumstances we've seen on video. Sorry about your bad luck, but I'll survive the trial. These cops under attack here exhibited restraint that I doubt any commenter here could or would.

A promotional video for the event shows Trump calling J6 rioters, "peaceful," and "J6 hostages," promising pardons, and calling for them to be released. The video has audio of Trump claiming, "There has never been a group of people treated so harshly or unfairly."

The video also states proceeds will go to a January 6th legal fund. A website promoting the event describes it as a celebration of Trump's "song" and a "tribute" to "all J6 defendants who have shown incredible courage and sacrifice." There is no word yet on what "awards" will be handed out at the January 6th "awards gala" and if it will be limited to just Trump's song with Capitol rioters.

Stephen Miller and GOP AGs sue to protect feds’ right to rip apart multi-status families

Sixteen Republican-led states in partnership with former top Trump aide Stephen Miller have filed a lawsuit against the federal government to prevent President Joe Biden from implementing his plan that would protect half-a-million American families from being ripped apart, while providing a path to citizenship when one spouse married to a U.S. citizen does not have legal status.

Currently, there are about 500,000 undocumented adults married to U.S citizens, who have been in the country for at least a decade, and would qualify to apply for President Biden's program. Another 50,000 children believed to be subject to possible deportation would also be protected under the new Biden rule.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

To all those vile, contemptable right-wing bastards who thought it was ok to say all those vile, contemptable things about Gus Walz for being tearfully proud of his father at the convention, you should be horsewhipped.

I found his son's reaction heartwarming, which I suppose is why they must vilify it. As the parent of a child on the spectrum, I really hope there is a hell waiting for them.
