Why is Trump a Free Man?

The latest revelation is that documents related to an ally's nuclear capabilities were found at the beach house at Mar-A-Lago. Only the President and a handful of national security people are supposed to have access to it.
Isn't this utterly ridiculous at this point? Why is this man walking around free? What is it going to take to arrest him? Are they waiting for him to advertise the nuclear codes on Craig's List? Trump and whichever of his cronies that have knowledge of this should be in a government dungeon somewhere undergoing water boarding.

Stumbled onto The View and Hilary Clinton was on and asked the same question I asked.
She said when she had to view highly classified documents and wasn’t able to get to the safe room there was a man with the briefcase handcuffed to his arm.
He’d unlock, she read and signed she read and back in the locked case.
There has to be a trail of custody of these documents..
How isn’t this isn’t being looked at harder?

Because any indictment of the man would be an indictment of the system that both created him and failed to contain him. Or, iow..because it's fucking embarrassing to the institution that would have to charge him. Everyone, absolutely everyone...even the magats in our government...wish he would just go away and that we'll never have to "deal with it".

it has been said all the different manifestations of political conservatism across the ages is unified by the conviction that they are the few whom the law must protect but must not bind, while the rest the law must bind but need not protect.
so trump and those who put him there believe they and he would be protected by law but bound by it.
