I'll dissect it when I wake up more, though the first failings are insulting your target audience and quoting from a contradictory book of myths.

There's really no need to repost my entire "long, painful" post if that's all you're going to say.

I suggest you reexamine my post to determine exactly who my target audience is, because it's not atheists, who do not comprise the entirety of posters here. I only address atheists at the very end.

Actually, there was.

Sometimes BS needs repeating.

You came onto an atheist forum and the beginning of the nonsense was used to insult atheists.

It's clear who your target audience is, even if you are in total denial about it.

If you want to address theists, I would suggest joining a Christian forum where you'll encounter all the christian love™ you'll ever want.

This is a pattern of behavior. If you look back to the last time he showed up, you will see that it's just same shit, different day with this one.

Hopefully there will be another two year break.

Hopefully when he returns in two years it will be with his deconversion story.  He's the kind of person whom I gleefully imagine waking up in a cold sweat after a punch-to-the-gut realization that his faith is dying and there isn't a fucking thing he can do to prevent it.  (Normally I have a fair amount of sympathy for people undergoing a crisis of faith, but when they're arrant assholes like Mr. Abbott I want them to s-u-f-f-e-r.)

That wouldn't do the trick. His target audience is clearly himself and a Christian forum wouldn't let him feel holier-than-thou. It's odd that he'd want such an insult applied to him, but hardly the strangest thing about him. I'd be grateful if he'd take his religious masturbation elsewhere and stop spoojing jeesliness on our carpets.

I think very little is obvious, which is why I don't entertain the obviously wrong in consideration.

Can you think of any moment in your life where your (allegedly) christian heart may have deceived you.  Maybe..even...recently?  You introduced this idea, I'd like to explore it.

Well you very much seem to treat the non-existence of God as obvious, and His righteousness as beneath contempt as obvious, which is all I meant to address. Am I wrong?

And I can think of many times my heart has deceived me. At one point, even recently, I thought the Lord wanted me to publish a novel so that I could attain an audience to hear about Him, when I was really mostly interested in obtaining objects of my desire, not the least of which was some semblance of control over my life (which is impossible and not what God wants for anyone).

God purged (or is purging) me of these desires through the process of spiritual crucifixion - the fate that awaits us all, in this life or the next.

If you feel that you're being spiritually crucified you may want to speak to a professional...and not one in a funny hat and dress holding out a plate.

RE: Why you can't find God
On reflection, Miles has a valid point - maybe it’s true that I haven’t found God because I haven’t looked for Him properly. I checked behind the fridge and the cooker, no God. I looked through all my desk drawers, no God. I searched under the sofa cushions, no God.

But I did find the TV remote and discovered there was a Marx Brothers festival on, which pretty much ended my search for God.

He seems to show up when he has a bug up his butt.  Makes some snarky remarks, tells the atheists they are damned, then the nurses take his Internet privileges away again.  It's hard to log in when you are restrained and heavily medicated.

To be clear, I want to say I believe this will be my final post on this forum; I don't anticipate ever coming back, as this experience has clarified a few things for me, though really, they were things I already knew.

First off, I don't go on Christian forums for a couple of reasons. They're less tolerant and it's easier to get banned, in my experience, not that I have a ton. I also have an account here, so I don't have to make a new one somewhere else whenever I feel the need to try and speak (which is on exceptionally rare occasion, irl or online). The community is smaller and fairly active, as well, so it's easier to get responses to posts.

Maybe I'm here because my father was an atheist, or because the people on here irritate me particularly. I don't really know, and it doesn't really matter.

I do think it's possible that what you say about my target audience is true, though for me I think it's more like I found something I could respond to, and there is a part of me that wants to test myself against people I know are going to attack me no matter what I say. (Frankly, I'm itching for a war that is taking far too long to materialize.) BUT, literally the first post in response to my own was a "TL;DR fairies and goblins blah blah blah." So stupidly unoriginal and par for the course for this place that I pretty much instantly knew I'd made a mistake in posting here. I very much hoped there would be someone with whom I could at least have a decent conversation, atheist or not, but you've all not failed to deliver to my true expectations.

Goblins! Fire-breathing dragons! Pixies! You're all so damned ridiculous, do you ever stop and consider that you have absolutely no idea how existence began, the origins of the universe, and therefore are making such thorough fools of yourselves when you discount the mere possibility of God's existence as to make yourselves sound virtually insane?

No, my guess is you really don't do that or pay heed to any words such as these. So go on; continue to insult any passersby without even bothering to read or carefully considering anything they have to say. You don't want to hear it, anyway - funny why some of you are even on here in the first place, isn't it?

As for insults, I've actually exercised a tremendous amount of restraint in my words. You guys deserve a much more severe rebuke than I've given you, and may the Lord do so in due time.
