I've saved more than a few lives.
I don't expect or want worship. I want those I've helped to live long, full, lives and to help others where they can. Playing Cluedo with my mum while I was at Uni: "You did WHAT? With WHO? WHERE???" RE: What would an atheist say if someone said "Hallelujah, you're my savior man."

Well, I can't, nor will not, speak for all atheists, but for me, I wouldn't care.
And of course, no one who is using that phrase, means it literally. As an IT professional, the number of times I've been called a savior by someone who's computer is blue screening, or who's important document I recovered, etc, etc, is huge. You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence. |
