Are you of the opinion that a federal law guaranteeing Roe v. Wade in all 50 states & territories is DOA? After all, who's the Sovereign Power, the United States of America or some State? Was not that question forever decided by the outcome of the Civil War?! From the perspective of United States case law, are not our rights & liberties guaranteed by the United States of America first and the state that we reside in second?? Would it not be an impeachable offense for a SCOTUS justice to claim that the United States federal government cannot govern??? Was not that power given exclusively to the Congress of the United States of America by the Constitution???

It's doa with the current makeup of the bench, they couldn't be more clear on that - or that they already have their sights on other items of import to "Jesus". No questions are forever decided in interactions like these, as much as you or I wish they would be - and as they themselves lied their asses off claiming to get confirmed. Impeachable offense? Couldn't get our government to get rid of a president that attempted a coup......?

The thing that you're..maybe... not factoring in, is that these people don't think that congress or indeed any human body has any power, let alone exclusive power, to govern. That's for their god and for their god alone. The king of kings. Lord and creator of the entire cosmos, and the only legitimate authority anywhere, anywhen. The constitution is a piece of paper, they'll wipe their ass with it, and have, whenever it would be useful for them to do so in service to their liege. That's just the righteous thing to do?

So, say some blue state wants to write a law that their god disagrees with, and they use "states rights"..because that;s the pretense these shamans work under..sometimes? Nyet comrade. They've already done this. Just as they've insisted that presidents have the exclusive right to do x...but only when they're gods presidents. That no one can -ever- change course when those guys do hereby declare this or that, and only they can hereby declare anything. These people are not even remotely interested in any of that, they are only nominally american, for fucks sake.

Some of us are loyal to family, some of us are loyal to country, some of us would struggle, even, to decide which of these two things commands their greater loyalty. Not these guys. They'll tell you that. They're christians first and foremost - family, country, basic humanity even..fuck all that. For all of these many years that they've blown dogwhistles about "dual loyalty" in regards to this or that "other" group - up to and including people who served with the us military, for fucks sake... well....every accusation is a confession. They believe that about other people because they know it..about themselves.

The whole purpose of their lives, the reason for them even being on the bench, is to cast their gods vote in absentia..and in no uncertain terms, to save gods america from the will of americans. We can only wait until they die, because even contemplating any other thing is a bridge too far for most people, and as much as I feel privately compelled...completely and utterly indecent. So, we stay the red right hand, but we don't have to launder their reputations and actions for them, in the interim. They are what they are. They've done what they did. It's okay to say so. Necessary, even, I'd argue.

I am going to continue to search, but, if SCOTUS overturns an individual right granted by federal law in deference to a state law that denies that right, then, new legal ground will be forged, to be sure.  Maybe another constitutional amendment following in the footsteps of the 14th will ensue.  In any case, I think that SCOTUS has become too powerful, when they can ignore clear precedent in restricting individual human beings private choices.

This court is clearly unconcerned with turning new legal ground. In fact, I believe several of its members would love to redefine what our Constitutional rights mean ... and do so in a way that is more restrictive.

Never trust any official who'd rather restrict than expand your rights. That includes these five peckerwoods and a twatwaffle.

In fairness, though they may have lied to get a job, they're much more open when they express their contempt for americans. For example, in responding to a leak they all knew damned well they'd done, about a decision which is at this moment causing immense harm..the main takeaway as they wanted to tell it..was that we should all be ashamed because someone might harm them.

Let's not pretend that since it was written, the court hasn't interpreted "well regulated militia" to mean "anyone with enough money."  And the 1st amendment is TLDR.

But yeah, the current court includes fucked up individuals with all the decision-making recipe for dystopia.

It was actually pretty rough on that one until living memory. Well regulated militias, you see, would report to the governer..not plot her kidnapping. Even when our court manages to get something (at least arguably) right with the spirit if not the letter of the law, it comes as a poison pill..because that whole gun thing as an inviolable right, mostly just applies to rural whites.

Who may not have money for property tax, but damn sure have money for guns.  A man's gotta eat or at least shoot things in attempt to fill a hole similar to hunger.  Gun makers and sellers know who write the checks as well as law makers do.
