Ah yes, because it'd only ever be trained and responsible staff members who were armed and not every cowboy douchebag student who decided it'd be cool to have a gun and be a hero when bullets start flying. If you were on site during a shooting and had a gun, and you saw someone else who had a gun with no prior knowledge of who was shooting, would you wait to see if they were the shooter by letting them put a few holes in you? Or would you be pro-active in ensuring your own personal safety?

That never happened, not to my knowledge anyway.

Briton was actually one of the most free nations, still is. What pressured crime to go up was probably due to poverty. Give everyone a knife, stabbings went up. Take'em away, crime rates dropped. Can't stab someone if you haven't got a knife.
The less guns there are, the less likely you are to being shot. No guns, make them hard to obtain and increase security.

However, I have never met anyone that would want too and nobody has the need to because nobody else is armed. Granted there are shootings here from time to time, however nowhere near the amounts you get in a country like the U.S. where guns are common place.

I'm all for fighting a "nanny state", however, I don't see blocking the right to own something that can easily kill as many people as you have bullets as a nanny state move.

We are able to legally own guns over here (of course not allowed to carry them around public). It's just that, we tend not to have them. Smart in my opinion. Guns are designed for one thing and one thing only, to kill. We're better off without them.
Gun crime here is relatively low, and gun restriction is tight as it should be.
I could apply for a gun licence if I wanted too, but choose not to. I disagree with them.

Only... everyone can have a knife. They are remarkably easy to conceal. Sword too if you are doing it right Handguns are much harder to obtain.
