What form of culture do you have where you live? Is it important to you at all? Here in South Carolina we just have hurricanes and tourists. I know that's not really culture but that's all we got. Oh we have turtles too. Lots of turtles. And old people.

We also have Lindsay Graham and Gov. McMasters. Plus, we have given the world Nikki Haley.

My family and I went on vacation here one Summer and I liked it so much that I moved down here.

Actually, The Wife and I are talking about picking it all up and moving out to the pacific northwest, the main obstacle has always been how completely and hopelessly southern I am. We're only in kentucky because I wouldn't go any further. It's hard to discount a culture that engenders that sort of devotion and...I guess if I'm honest, fear? Like I could never be anything other than out of place if I left. All I ever have to do is open my mouth to prove that I'm "other"...anywhere else.

That's the main reason I'm more open now to moving. I've noticed people in the south being distinctly less friendly and chill. Now I'm "other" here..too.....

Y'all also gave us the Rev Gary Davis and Piedmont blues, which is some great stuff.

Living in Texass, we have stuff that passes for culture. We gave the world plenty of great musicians, a couple of great writers, and the best BBQ in America (apologies to y'all and others). We also need a lot more museums and a drastically-improved educational system.
