It takes a lot of work to write any kind of defense for theism, if you don't show any respect for this work, you're going to lose a lot of people -precisely those who are willing to put up some effort into what they're writing. Disrespect is not good for business.. huh ? I never thought I would need to spell that out, but apparently some people here are too stupid to realize it by themselves.

I went through some recent threads in the "Atheism" forum, and it made me sad to see some members here congratulating each other for Nishant Xavier getting banned. I profoundly disagree with the guy's religion and most of what he wrote, but he clearly put up an awful lot of work in his threads. I am not opposed to him getting banned because he may have broken some rules, but the attitude of many members here, including you, towards him while he was in this forum, was very inappropriate -to put it charitably. He may have not presented groundbreaking insights about christianity, but the forum definitely didn't deserve him.

On a more personal note, an entire thread of mine was deleted some hour ago in the Islam forum, which took me almost an hour to write, supposedly because I included links and thus broke the 30/30 rule. Fine, delete the links and leave the thread. Instead, the entire thread was erased.

As retaliation for this startling abuse of power, you can count me out, for good.

Let me remind you of the context of this discussion : you're here claiming that hell, if exists, is immoral. Under the hypothetical of hell's existence, one presupposes that God exists and that some religious account of hell or similar eschatological worlds turned out to be true.

So, in this context, God's perspective isn't subjective, it's objective, as God is the absolute moral arbiter. If you want to play the "all religions are subjective" trump card, fine, but you can no longer object to hell.

No, it's definitely subjective because your alleged god decided unilaterally that eternal torture was just. Power does not make something objective or just.

No, not playing that game. I perceive morality as minimization of harm and suffering, and in my view your alleged god is disgustingly immoral and unworthy of respect. I can't magically start to love or respect something that I find abhorrent.

It takes a lot of preliminary work to present an argument. It also takes smart and well-mannered people to understand the argument that is being presented.

I am not going to present my best work here for you to crap on it with even more Robert Spencer links, or for other morons like you to flood the thread with all kinds of anti-Islam allegations. Sometimes it only takes hours for an answer of mine to get lost in pages upon pages of insulting comments and gratuitous slurs.

Whoever made the rules of this forum did a huge a disservice to it by allowing insults and open blasphemy even in the threads made by theists. I'm convinced now there will never be a decent environment here for any kind of genuine, fruitful discussion.

Rightly or wrongly I can "defend" moral realism in a few short sentences...but it's a herculean task to "defend" the idea of the totally obvious™ lord of all creation? IDK, I feel like that ought to be a big flashing warning signal in any conflict between the two. What can they really be saying, aside from "yeah, i get that it really looks like the other thing - but for arcane reasons I can't easily or competently articulate..it isn't".
