I've long said that we don't know who won the War in Heaven. "Winner writes the history."* The loser is automatically Satan.

You sell your soul to both. Plus the demand for innocent sacrifices to pay debts. In both instances there is a spirit that is summoned that takes over the bodies of humans in order to do its bidding and grant the wishes of humans(ever hear someone pray before a surgery "please guide the doctor's hands"? Ever hear someone pray for their preaching to work, "please soften their hearts"? That is directly asking this entity to possess people to some degree). You can't prove he's good from the lore as presented. And it blends very well with the lore we have for demonic entities.
But IF the magic were real, IF prayer was magic and worked, and all you needed to do was obey the Christian lifestyle, would you? Your back is healed. Your bad knee is spritely and youthful again. Your heart is no longer clotted with tartar. But you have to pay tithing to the church and observe the Sabbath and be a humble, meek sheep for a demon.

But actually thinking about it, I don't think I would. 1. Because the Christian god is probably a demonic entity that is masquerading as good and 2. Because I'd rather be happy in the way that I am, free to be me, than have to obey the dictates over my life and destiny this entity wants to possess. Just for a bit of stellar focus. Like, I could be like the normies. Just be able to think a thing and do it. Ehh, not worth it for the independence and autonomy I'd lose. Even the most progressive Christian sects require you to be a willing sheep to the shepherd demon at least in lip service(which is just as bad, because do we really understand how a supernatural contract system would work? You agree verbally aloud...what have you done?)
Anyway, how about you? In the hypothetical: Jesus allegiance works and can heal you of any maladies, so long as you declare it and submit to the power. Is it worth it? Do you fall for it?
Given who died yesterday, good title for this thread.

Well if your an example of a christ like person, I'll say no. I'm not interested in becoming a hate-filled compulsive liar.

Prayer is groveling for no purpose and to no one but simply for the sake of groveling.

“The function of prayer is not to influence God, but rather to change the nature of the one who prays.”
― Soren Kierkegaard
But hey, what does Kierkegaard know about Christianity?

Perhaps Kierkengaard has something there. Can't very well influence God if there isn't one.

I like my definition better: prayer is like the old pagan rituals where you summon a spiritual familiar and try to entice it to give you a boon, bind itself to you, and/or do your bidding.
"creator of the universe". Likely one familiar spirit among many, he's the one who got the book deal of the millennia. Based on the lore.
I recognize you. You're the one who bumped all the Nishant threads.

Well said. When bad things simply happen in my life, I DO feel the inescapable urge for Daddy to either spank me or reward me.
