I'm not sure how much weight his opinions carry inside the state, but it's nice to see another Republican making this point in an important swing state.

They're jumping ship, but probably getting on the lifeboat Trump has ready for them as he prepares to put them in his administration. He wants to distance himself from it as much as possible before the election, but afterwards there's nothing that will stop him from implementing Project 2025's goals. He already said earlier that sometimes you have to say things to get elected.

They're being thrown off for optics, to be rescued later when the lamplight is lower, you're right.
Thankfully we have the Internet to throw their words back in their faces all the same.
No matter who supports Trump, or whose program he endorses, he doesn't deserve a single vote.
