I remember driving through Iowa at the spring thaw. The stench of pig shit was intense.

Most of the locals call that the smell of money.

Yup, I was with one of my Navy buddies who lived in Vinton. If we had a same weekend off, he'd visit his parents and I'd drive. And that's just what he said, when I asked what that stench was.

Recently there have been tourism ads for Iowa.  Other than one or two people there, I can think of no reason to make Iowa a destination.  They are in the process of ruining The Field of Dreams.  The smell of manure isn't much of a draw for me.  The governor is a MAGA wingnut.  There are no mountains.  There isn't a beach.  I find it hard to name a selling point and I lived there for most of the first 30 years of my life.

I saw all I needed to see of Iowa driving cross country in the 90s.

Nothing but corn and soybeans.

More of a rant than a random thought...I am so tired of the random illnesses, ailments, and injuries that come with getting old(er).  I realize the alternative isn't great but damn it to hell.

First, I spent two months with some weird GI thing that is finally resolving.  Toward the end of that I had what was not the flu or COVID but sucked just as bad as either or both.  This morning I was so happy to feel good.  My stomach wasn't upset, the cough had let up...it's gonna be a good day, right?  Did my work made something to eat, jumped in the shower and felt like I was going to pass out.  There's a good plan for an old broad at home alone.  Ears ringing, hands shaky...WTAF.  My oxygen level is fine, BP is fine...goddamnit!  Still feel less than wonderful.

I got one good morning since the first of March.  I need to start enjoying the feeling good times more.

I ordered a spray to help keep Harley from chewing on things. That's what the spray is made for. It's supposed to taste bitter. I haven't even opened the box so I was going to return it as we seem to be over the big chewfest. I go onto Amazon to process a return and can't because - it's too dangerous to ship.

They could ship it to me but I can't send it back. fuck - I hate the world sometimes

I've mentioned before that I watch a lot of true crime.

I need to know why when people are out wandering around in the woods and stumble upon a body is their first thought that it's a mannequin. Are mannequins known for walking around unattended? I have never seen one in the wild.
