They are all so different, how can just one of them, out of all the others, be the true religion? Not plausible. I like Catholicism as much as the next guy, but to say that it's the "one true church" simply doesn't track.

Well dude, doesn’t it seem quit foolish to believe in any religion?

Since none of them have any evidence of any god existing?

Your desire to believe is stronger then wanting to know the truth.

Well yeah, naturally. Beliefs are not such bad things to have, you just have to know your limits, i.e. don't allow yourself to believe in anything that's detrimental to any aspect of your health and well-being, and also don't expect other people to hold the same beliefs you hold.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Science doesn't know how the universe was created but is trying to find out (mostly worked out to a small fraction of a second after the big bang, working on the details)
Replacing "I don't know" with "god did it" is a cop out.

Hi Zebo
God exists outside time. Science doesn’t. I agree “science doesn’t know”. “Trying to find out” is a “cop out”.
Cheers Barry

Does a cause need to precede its effect? Did God exist before the universe he created existed?

Example of Jesus Schrödinger’s teaching for mankind:

Matt. 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven

Matt. 6:1 Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father in heaven

Atheism doesn't "offer" anything, I simply don't find any of the so called evidence for gods to be convincing. What does "not believing in pixies" offer?

I saved ten percent on tithing by switching to unbelief.

The first moment of the Big Bang was an event (a point in space and time).

The cause of any event must exist on or within the past light-cone of that event.

If God exists outside time, then he does not exist on or within the past light-cone of the Big Bang.

Therefore God is not the cause of the Big Bang.

The problem with the Bible as written history is that it contradicts itself.  For instance, Matt and Mark claim that Pete first saw the risen Josh in Galilee.  Luke and John claim Pete first saw the risen Josh in Jerusalem.  Today the case would be thrown out of court on such testimony.

Hi LG
So who or what was? Actually God can be anything Gods likes. God isn’t a light cone, or an ice cream cone.

You never answered the question of is there depression in your afterlife?
