No one needs to actually get baptized by water, according to the RCC.
In fact no one even needs anything to do with any religious anything.
Missing mass is a mortal misdeed, my man.

Actually my girl, you're wrong yet again.
(Are you part of the reason 10 % of Americans are ex-Catholics ?)

No one can judge that except their god. There are all kinds of reasons why one might miss mass.

There are 3 requirements in the CCC for mortal sin, and the person in question has to knowingly assent to all three, completely, and only their god can judge the third one.
You are not god and according to the CCC only their god can judge the 3rd one.
I'll let you look it up, and get educated about Catholicism and the three requirements for mortal sin.
You really were an incompetent amateur RCIA, weren't you.

"The fate of unbaptized babies has confounded Catholic scholars for centuries. According to church catechisms, or teachings, babies that haven’t been splashed with holy water bear the original sin, which makes them ineligible for joining God in heaven. At the same time, as innocent beings, they surely don’t deserve eternal torment. St. Augustine concluded in the fourth century that the babies must be punished in the fire of hell, but only with the “mildest condemnation.” Eight centuries later, Thomas Aquinas thought infant souls wouldn’t go to heaven, but they wouldn’t suffer in the afterlife, either (and they wouldn’t even know what they were missing). Theologians eventually settled on limbo as a hypothetical compromise—a state of natural, though incomplete, happiness."

I’ve just joined this forum.
I see a lot of discussion about religion and Jesus and being saved.  I think that in a forum for atheists the most important question is “Does God exist?”. Jesus Christ is irrelevant if he isn’t the Son of God. And all other religious faiths are meaningless if our world occurred by accident with no creator God.
So how did the world begin?
My answer is that science proves nothing can be created from nothing in our material world, so the only explanation is that something external created the world. And that is what we call God. The problem for humankind is that they don’t want to feel responsible to God, despite knowing in their hearts God exists.
Cheers Barry

Everything you've just said is meaningless.

Just becuse silly little hoomans can't explain something, does not mean it was magic.

A thousand years ago, nobody had any explanation for why volcanoes erupted, or why earthquakes occured, guess what, it was never magic.

Hi
I accept you don’t believe in God. But You admit not being able to explain how the world exists. Fair enough.
If you have no answers it seems rather unfair to say that belief in God is “bullshit”.
Cheers Barry

The world exists because the conditions necessary for it to exist were met. Goddidit is no explanation.

A Catholic priest discovered the Big Bang. If the universe always existed, from infinity, how did we ever reach the present.

This is what Msgr. Georges Lemaitre (there should be a hat accent over the a in his surname, but I don't know the unicode for that) when Pius XII tried to claim that the big bang (which was so named by Hoyle who wanted to prejudice other scientists against Lemaitre's theory) proved that god existed:

Quote:As far as I can see, such a theory remains entirely outside any metaphysical or religious question. It leaves the materialist free to deny any transcendental Being… For the believer, it removes any attempt at familiarity with God… It is consonant with Isaiah speaking of the hidden God, hidden even in the beginning of the universe

He slapped Pius down hard, and to my mind, posited in turn a god that was inseparable from the universe in the same way that Spinoza saw god.

So yeah, what you think doesn't conform to reality.

I'd say I'm pretty unique in that I put bel on my ignore list before he put me on his. I copped he was a shitposter very quickly.

You do exaggerate I think when you say “having them talk shit about us and molest our children”. I’m not sure who “us” is and there is unlikely to be much molestation happening any more.
Actually the Catholic schools are doing such a terrible job teaching religion I think they should be closed. They serve no purpose.  They used to. Perhaps Jesus, you and I all agree on that.
Cheers Barry

Okay, this one has me raising both eyebrows.

First, you DO know that pretty much ALL private schools are subsidised by both their paying customers AND the government, right? This does not save the taxpayers money. It draws funds away from government schools and is also an obvious case of 'Double dipping'.

Secondly. What research have you done into the system's current state of catholic malfeasance? You are aware of no Cardinal Pell's level of involvement all through the 80's, 90's, 2000's etc in hiding, colluding and otherwise shielding the edifice of the church from blame or scrutiny?

Thirdly. Oh. So you don't think the current schools, which by law have to stay on par with government schools in matters of curriculum, are doing a 'Banh up job'? Please enlighten us on what you think catholic schools should be teaching or how they should be teaching it.

This will be an interesting reply. If any.

This is fallacious

One doesn't require an explanation for how the universe is to not accept your explaination and one can indeed call it bullshit.
