Is the suffering worth it

RE: Is the suffering worth it
C-beams glittering in the dark off the tannhauser gate.

I'm pretty sure the last time you struggled it was to escape the womb Ahri, lol. Horrifying.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

You haven't suffered a day in your life. At least not compared to me.

Funny thing is, my mom did sign me up for a few summer camps, which were all horrible experiences that made me suffer, but I was forced to attend anyway.

Suffering seems pretty much universal, though it also seems clear that some beings suffer worse than others. It's tragic that reality is such. However, there are pleasurable experiences also. These are likewise unequally distributed.

In colloquial terms, do what you can to minimise suffering and maximise pleasant sensations. That's about it.

Maybe the godthing you worship, and you believes loves you, is giving you a taste of what your afterlife will be like.

It certainly sounds like it doesn’t give a fuck about you now.

You pray to this thing begging for relief, right?

I’d be depressed if I believed like you.

Shame is bearable.  Shame is definite.  Shame is informative.  Fear...well....that's just running the other way when you hear a loud noise.

Your fear can be used to cause your shame. I'm guessing there's alot of shame in your life.

Shame is enjoyable, perhaps even addictive. Fear isn't enjoyable at all. And that's what makes shame worse than fear.

These things exist as necessary complements. Shame is what gives us a sense of pride, and fear is what allows us to have courage. As Heinlein put it, 'A man who is fearless cannot be courageous. He is also a fool.'

I don't think I experience much in terms of either shame or pride. Fear, for sure.

Shame and pride might take a little finesse. Fear just comes to us.
