I find it truly remarkable that after a hundred such "prophecies" and 2000 years of any day now this absurd notion of a rapture still exists. But my fellow species goes and surprises me and determines another date for the apocalypse every few years.

I like how several Atheist groups are having the morning after the rapture conferences. Makes me chuckle.

We have the Void in New Zealand and Padraic and a number of others in Australia so we can expect them to be checking in as 6:00 comes and goes with....unfortunately....nary a xtian being raptured anywhere.

Of course, if the world ends on a time zone by time zone basis we expect to get a warning!

Ever get the feeling that all these doomsday believers are just a bunch of real-life trolls? Or just doing it for the lulz? I get the impression that none of them honestly believe that the end of the world is really going to happen on May 21, and they're just trying to see what kind of reaction they can get from the rest of us.

I mean, you really don't see anyone selling everything they have and throwing a huge party, or even giving that money to the poor.

I went through this exact same thing as a child. I was six years old, but I remember people selling their houses and businesses, because the end was definitely coming in 1975. Now, they deny this ever happened, but it did, I can assure you. How members of my family stayed believers after this, is beyond me. Completely gullible.
