Yes

i dont think anything can ever make me willfully turn my back on that kindness, patience, love, goodness > with personhood

Exactly why believing is so dangerous.

All we have to do is wait until you have another dream where god tells you to kill.

Don’t say god wouldn’t do that since it commanded Abraham to slaughter Issac

Do you think that’s love?

Well, truth has nothing to do with love or beauty. Truth has more to do with pain and suffering.

theres certainly a lot of pain and suffering going around - and the answers we are given for why - they dont seem to cut it.  they seem to be insufficient or missing something.

If i can be useful to someone in that - i will be.  the way i was shown is to give them a home and a family.

i dont know what else to do ???

I dont think that is love, no.

Who i met that night was very very kind.  Kinder than anyone i know.  he was not angry - he understood us.  he wont lose patience and get angry.  he was definately higher than me in authority - like a good father.  He expressed his love for me and he wants others to feel it too (unless they say no).  and i love him so much i want to do that - and it makes me feel like we are all family under god - who is our father.  So i feel brotherly towards the rest of creation.

Abraham should have said, 'No.'

These days when a parent claims that god told them to kill their child(ren) it's determined to be mental illness.  Back in the day when the Bible was written it was seen as obedience to god and perfectly acceptable.

Maybe we know more now than the goat herders of old.

I think this is important. People want to treat the Bible as journalism, or an instruction manual. It makes more sense as a challenge and a puzzle.

If I were an omnipotent deity that's the way I'd write it. Ha!

Not much to understand about that, tbh.  Do you think a father should say no when someone asks them to murder their child?  Seems a low empathy move not conducive to the flourishing of civilisation and therefore not of benefit to yourself or others.  Bad precedent to set, child sacrifice at the behest of disembodied voices.

i search for that person i met one night -

i read the bible looking for him,

i do find him about in the world.

i try to leave his presence where ever i go.

What made you think you'd find more about him in the bible?
