Jesus avoids the atheist family and destroys his own church

RE: Jesus avoids the atheist family and destroys his own church
And you think that this is the scenery of the afterlife based upon what? I think that the afterlife is blueberry waffles. How are we to determine, between our two competing hypothesis, which is correct? Is it possible that we are both incorrect, that perhaps dying is neither a pastoral afterlife filled with friends and family, or blueberry waffles?

So here we have (at least) three distinct possibilities. You version of the afterlife, blueberry waffles, and that neither of these two claims is accurate. Let's explore why your sentiments with regards to death might not be quite as satisfying as you seem to believe.

I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Whether I or anyone else thinks your claim is silly is irrelevant. The only relevant question is ; can you prove it?

You have made a positive claim, attracting the burden of proof. Let' see it.

It's only silly to make a claim when you can't prove it is true. Then it becomes wishful thinking, delusion, superstition or mental illness..Tiger

hey padraic, I know a guy that used to be a baptist preacher he is one of my best friend's dads. About 20 years or so ago he got into a fatal car accident. I say fatal because he was dead for quite some time. They were able to revive him and when he recovered fully to the extent he could live a somewhat normal life people expected him to start preaching again.. he didnt. What he did offer was an explination of what he felt and saw on the other side and he said it was so wonderful that he did not want to leave but "they" told him he had to and it wasnt his time. For this reason he became angry with God and as a result will not preach for him anymore. I dont know if you will accept eye witness accounts as proof or not. I have a feeling if I told you I have seen heaven with my own eyes you wouldnt believe me. I have not seen it, just saying. dont know any other way to prove it to you. If this dosent suffice, than no I cannot prove it to you.

Did this actually happen, or did it only happen today, will it be "a story" tomorrow?

You will be hard pressed to find anyone here that takes eyewitness accounts as evidence.

LOL, I think that would defeat the purpose of preventing a terrible disaster in the first place.

Ah, but at least then the destruction would be on our own terms, instead of the terms of a cosmically petty absentee landlord. If the house I'm renting is going to fall down on my head with nary a word from the owner, you'd best believe it'll be my hands holding the sledgehammer when it does.

Yeah didnt figure it would be accepted as evidence, and it shouldnt be. But its all Ive got guys. sorry. However Im not one to "make up stories " to suit my arguement. If ive got nothing ill say ive got nothing. No shame in my game. Thats not to say i cant prove it. I just cant prove it right now. ill be gettin back to you on that. Now to Rythm.. yes my friend I see what your getting at. To answer your question I base my beliefs on what i think the transition is like from my own thoughts and imagination thrown in with what its like to arrive in this world which hopefully nobody has any doubt about. Much like some people that Believe in God but they give him attributes he dosent have or think that only certain laws of whatever holy book they hold sacred apply to them or just take a few elements of many religions and make their own up. The ideas i was discussing were just for the transition because as far as I know there isnt any holy scripture that tells us what that transition will be like. I do in fact know what the afterlife will be like and I base that solely on the scriptures. So yeah you are right in stating the transition from life to afterlife could be like what I described or it could be blueberry waffles or yeah man it could be possible that we are both wrong on that one. With me the transition and the final destination are two different things. The transition i will admit I know diddly about. As far as the afterlife yeah I know for sure what its like. Again if you dont want to believe like that it bothers and offends me not one bit. I believe there will be blueberry waffles there too. It couldnt be heaven without em. peace.
sorry replied to the wrong post but the right guy.

Then it was not, by definition, "fatal."

You know no such thing, you have only your beliefs. Your description of the afterlife and my own, that of blueberry waffles (you seem to have misunderstood me, I don't mean that there will -be- blueberry waffles in the afterlife, but that the afterlife -is- blueberry waffles), are on equal terms. Boy that makes the whole afterlife bit sound so incredibly compelling and serious doesn't it?
