New Apologetics Book, 25 Reasons to be Christian.

RE: New Apologetics Book, 25 Reasons to be Christian.
(July 10, 2024 at 2:45 pm)SaintPeter Wrote: Saying "nobody can argue God into existence" (not that we think we do) is like saying "no one can argue the Big Bang Theory into existence".

It's not we that argue something into existence. Rather, we give reasons why a particular theory or worldview is in accordance with the Truth.

The difference being that The Big Bang has supportive evidence and will be scrapped if better evidence for a competing theory comes to light.

God, on the other hand, is claimed to exist despite a towering lack of evidence to the contrary. Godism does replace a theory - it’s simply a please-believe-me cry for attention. And yes, you are trying to argue God into existence (and doing it backwards, although you probably don’t realize it).

The Big Bang Theory was first proposed by a Belgian Catholic Priest named Fr. Georges Lemaitre. At the time, it was attacked by some Atheists, who disliked its implications of a temporal beginning of the Universe, as smacking too much and being reminiscent of Divine Creation; but today, it is the most widely accepted theory in Cosmology.

And, as for the evidence/reason, I gave it above. One would have to show one of the steps in the Kalam is false. Which is it: "(1) What begins to exist has a cause. (2) But, the Universe began to exist. (3) Thus, there exists a Cause of the Universe that existed outside time and space before the Universe came to being."

The Big Bang Theory provides scientific evidence in support of premise 2. So does the Borde Guth Villenkin theorem, for that theorem says any universe that any universe that has generally been expanding in the past cannot have been of infinite age but began to exist a finite time ago.

(July 10, 2024 at 2:44 pm)SaintPeter Wrote: Sigh. Ok. We'll go from there. Now, as to how the True God, the Lord Jehovah, is different from many false gods is this God revealed Himself to be One Almighty God, Eternal and Transcendent. The many false pagan gods were not like this and they all believed gods could be multiple, divided, not almighty, not transcendent, not outside time etc. Next, the Kalam Cosmological argument, which Dr. Craig generally starts with, and I agree is a good argument, proves precisely such a God as the monotheistic God defended by just 3 of the world's 10 or so religions: Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. It thus excludes polytheistic gods and polytheistic religions and all those that have not been consistently monotheistic in maintaining the Truth of One Almighty Creator God.

Now, the Kalam is well known: (1) What begins to exist has a cause. (2) But, the Universe began to exist. (3) Thus, there exists a Cause of the Universe that existed outside time and space before the Universe came to being. (4) Next, we can deduce even further Properties of this First Cause, namely that it is (1) Almighty or Omnipotent, because only an Almighty Power can create something out of nothing, let alone whole universes out of nothing. (2) Eternal and Transcendent, i.e. existing outside time and space. And that will do for now.

Note that the properties we deduce are completely in accord with what the Lord Jehovah, the One True God, revealed to the Patriarch Abraham, the founding father of monotheism. They thus answer your second point and show we can in fact exclude various polytheistic false gods from being the True Creator God that the Kalam proves.

How did this god "reveal Himself"?  How is this different from people just making stuff up?
Still waiting for some testable falsifiable evidence.

That's special pleading: someone had to create the universe because it exists but not god who also supposedly exist. And someone did create god - can you guess who?

Also, the universe didn't start existing at the big bang. Universe existed before the big bang but it was very small, so universe always existed.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Prove your godiboi is real, without the use of the buybull. Can you do that?

Can you demonstrate anything (outside of that book) that proves jebus died for my sins?

Can you show me, you know, the same way I can demonstrate for you that water can be a solid, a liquid, or a gas, without the use of a science book?
The same way I can demonstrate the Doppler Effect for you,  WITHOUT the use of a science book?

What evidence do you have other than the ramblings of desert dwelling, scientifically inept, superstitious fools?

Premise 1 is invalid, since we know acausal phenomena exist.

So it was Nishant again. I guess his confidence or should I say delusion of Christianity rapidly taking over the world is strange since even in his homeland, India, only about 2% of the population are Christians. Even the PM Modi is a Hindu nationalist. So Nishant just ignores reality? I guess I'll ask him that the next time he registers.
