I hit 40 out of 40 at 100 yards to earn "expert marksman", Air Force style. 164 yards, yes, tougher shot, but doable. Shooter did wing Trump, after all. Center-of-mass is how I was trained. Had the shooter aimed for center-mass I think the headlines would be a bit different.

I trained in the Army, center of mass was how we were trained. At 150ish yards with 5.56 and iron sights, center of mass is not very difficult, though I will say a lot of recruits couldn't hit the broad side of a barn from the inside. An expert marksman could easily make the shot on a non moving target, IMO.

I wouldn't be surprised. I saw the video of 1/6 where the Capitol Police are taking selfies with the insurrectionists. Not that big of a stretch that the cop looks and backs off, since he *knows* what's going on. /paranoid

As for people pointing the shooter out to other law enforcement, there were people all over the place talking and cheering and the like. I'm sure there was some data overload involved. And the cop who peeked over the roof line? If he got in a firefight with the guy, his rounds have the chump and the rest of the crowd as potential downrange receptacles. He was not in a position to shoot.

Depends on the roofing and the angle. Backstop issue is a possibility, to be sure, but we don't know right now.

Oh, I get that. Even if there wasn't anyone in the direct line of fire, bullets carry a long way. If I shot and even if I took out the attacker, I'd expect to be grilled about any shots that missed and went...where? That's my expectation, anyway.

I shot 24 rounds out of a .22 rifle in boot camp.  What a joke. My two eldest sons and I are proficient shooters and qualified Distinguished Marksman for light rifle, and both sons the same for shotgun. They essentially hit ~100% at skeet and trap. Eldest is in the USAF and the only reason he couldn't get sniper designation when shooting in basic is because there are other requirements. Accuracy was only part of it.

It's long been a staple of the stump speech for President Joe Biden to compare Donald Trump and his supporters to the Nazis, and his fellow Democrats and the liberal media eagerly amplify the ratcheted-up rhetoric.

Now, sadly but predictably, this kind of talk has gotten somebody killed.

Most people believe that killing Hitler would have been a good and moral act if it could have stopped the carnage he wrought. We even have a parlor game suggesting he was so evil he should have been killed as an infant. Comparing anyone to the Nazi dictator is a clear invitation to violence.
