The Official "Damned Trump" Thread: Phase II
RE: The Official "Damned Trump" Thread: Phase II
A federal judge has ordered the Trump administration to halt construction of a $400M White House ballroom, ruling the project cannot move forward unless Congress approves it.

A federal judge permanently blocked Trump from defunding PBS.

The Trump administration voted to let Big Oil ignore every endangered species protection in the Gulf of Mexico.

In a single meeting, Trump's corrupt cabinet gave oil companies a free pass to kill endangered whales and sea turtles so they can drill without limits.

This is happening because Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth invoked a never-before-used loophole in the Endangered Species Act.

He claims protecting endangered sea creatures in the Gulf is getting in the way of "national security." No administration, Republican or Democrat, has ever tried anything this sweeping and reckless.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

But the thing is, oil companies aren’t all that keen on new drilling anyway.

Yep, and that isn't likely to change with these inflated prices.

Still, it's kind of wild that *as of today* oil companies can kill literally any animal in the Gulf of Mexico no matter how endangered.

Trump signs order directing creation of a national voter list, a move already facing lawsuit threats

The order, which voting law experts say violates the Constitution by attempting to seize states’ power to run elections, is the latest in a torrent of efforts from Trump to interfere with the way Americans vote based on his false allegations of fraud. The president has repeatedly lied about the outcome of the 2020 presidential campaign and the integrity of state-run elections, asserting again Tuesday that he won “three times” and citing accusations of voter fraud that numerous audits, investigations and courts have debunked.

The order signed Tuesday calls on the Department of Homeland Security, working in conjunction with the Social Security Administration, to make the list of eligible voters in each state. It also seeks to bar the U.S. Postal Service from sending absentee ballots to those not on each state’s approved list.

Trump is also calling for ballots to have secure envelopes with unique barcodes for tracking, according to the executive order, which was first reported by the Daily Caller. Federal funding could be withheld from states and localities that don’t comply.

“The cheating on mail-in voting is legendary. It’s horrible what’s going on,” Trump said, repeating his false allegations about mail ballots as he signed the order. “I think this will help a lot with elections.”

Under AG Pam Bondi, the DOJ has dropped 23,000 criminal cases — including hundreds of investigations into terrorism, white-collar crime and drugs — while prosecuting 32,000 new immigration cases in just the first six months of Trump’s second term.

The cases included an investigation into a Virginia nursing home with a recent record of patient abuse; probes of fraud involving several New Jersey labor unions, including one opened after a top official of a national union was accused of embezzlement; and an investigation into a cryptocurrency company suspected of cheating investors.

In doing so, the DOJ is retreating from its mission to impartially uphold the rule of law, keep the country safe and protect civil rights, according to interviews with a dozen prosecutors and an open letter from nearly 300 DOJ employees who have left the department under Trump. The Trump DOJ, the employees wrote, is “taking a sledgehammer” to long-standing work to “protect communities and the rule of law.”

Even as the Trump administration unleashed Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency operatives to root out waste, fraud and abuse in the federal government, the DOJ declined over 900 cases of federal program or procurement fraud. And while the Trump administration has promised to “make America safe again,” its DOJ has declined more than 1,000 terrorism cases.

Judge Amit Mehta rules Trump is NOT immune for key Jan. 6 conduct—including his Ellipse rally speech, outreach to officials, and related actions—finding they can be treated as campaign activity, not presidential duties.

That means civil lawsuits can move forward. The court also rejected Trump’s First Amendment defense and blocked a DOJ effort that could have shielded him from liability.

Trump plans to betray the U.S. Marines by sending ICE agents to their graduation events to target their family members who may be undocumented.

He's going to brutalize their loved ones and then ship them off to war.

Anyone who shows up at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot at Parris Island in South Carolina will be asked to produce their identification documents. If they don't have the proper documentation on them, they'll be funneled to face ICE agents who will presumably harass, terrorize, and detain many of them.

New Evidence Corroborates Claims of Trump Sex Accuser, 13

Quote:A new investigation has backed up evidence given by a woman who has accused Donald Trump of sexually abusing her when she was 13, according to a report.

The woman conducted four interviews with the FBI in 2019 in which she detailed alleged abuse by Trump and child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Her interviews referencing Trump were initially withheld by the Department of Justice.

Sauce.

And the investigation they’re talking about.

And somehow, this isn’t a major fucking story.

Quotes from his two speeches yesterday:

“We can't take care of daycare. We're fighting wars. It's not possible for us to take care of daycare, Medicaid, and Medicare. We have to take care of one thing: Military.”

"We're going to hit Iran extremely hard over the next 2 to 3 weeks, we're going to bring them back to the stone ages where they belong."

On Somali-Americans in Minnesota: "They're low IQ. I can generalize. They're low IQ people. They're bad people."

“On Palm Sunday, Jesus entered Jerusalem as crowds welcomed him with praise honoring him as king. They call me king now. Can you believe it?”

He said Erika Kirk should sue Druski for his parody video. The “free speech” party are offended by comedy.

Quote:Our reporting started, like much of our work, in a spreadsheet. As I parsed through federal court data, I noticed something odd: Within months of President Donald Trump’s inauguration in January 2025, prosecutors began filing obscure charges related to trespassing on military property — so many, in fact, that more cases were filed in 2025 than in the prior decade.

Nearly all of these charges originated from cases along the U.S. southern border, where last spring, the White House designated large swaths of land as national defense areas. Putting them under military authority allowed troops to play an unprecedented role in apprehending undocumented immigrants; federal soldiers are generally barred from enforcing the law on domestic soil. If you were caught in one of these zones, the government could also now prosecute you for breaking federal laws, including one enacted in 1909 to keep spies away from arsenals.

Quote:Amid the ongoing war in Iran, rising gas prices, a partial government shutdown, and economic woes, President Donald Trump started his day with an attack on Bruce Springsteen in the wake of appearances by The Boss in the Twin Cities.

The president’s Truth Social tirade came in the days after Springsteen opened his “Land of Hope and Dreams Tour” in Minneapolis on March 31, which itself took place just a couple of days after he appeared at the flagship No Kings rally in St. Paul.

“Bad, and very boring singer, Bruce Springsteen… has long had a horrible and incurable case of Trump Derangement Syndrome,” the president posted to his Truth Social platform at 6:58 a.m. CT. “Under Sleepy Joe and the Dems, our Country was DEAD, and now we have the ‘hottest’ Country, by far, anywhere in the World.”

The post also called Springsteen a “loser” and asserted that “MAGA SHOULD BOYCOTT HIS OVERPRICED CONCERTS, WHICH SUCK. SAVE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY.”

The opening night of the 76-year-old Springsteen’s tour has garnered rave reviews from multiple publications.

Quote:Sargent: Yeah, I think I know who you’re talking about. And to your point, though, not only is he, quote-unquote, angry at our NATO allies for not jumping to the sound of his command to join him—he’s saying all this after refusing to brief them beforehand, before invading. That’s what makes it so ridiculous in my mind.

So he spends the last year crapping all over our alliances, basically telling our allies to fuck off. Then he launches this illegal war with absolutely no consultation with our allies. And then when it goes badly, he says, bail me out, please. That’s not how you do this.

Rothkopf: Well, you know, literally every single thing that he does is the wrong thing in the wrong way for the wrong reason. And that’s a pattern—in domestic policy it’s a pattern, in politics. But it’s especially acute here because there is a long history in national security of actions like this being carefully gamed out, of a big policy process being undertaken to assess risks, of an exploration of historical context, of an exploration of potential consequences, of making weighty decisions in a thoughtful, multi-party manner.

That’s why the National Security Council was created. I wrote two books on the NSC. Well, we effectively don’t have an NSC now because he doesn’t listen to advice. And so you have this ignoramus who ignores the fact that when war games like about this were conducted, we lost.

Okay, there was a big famous war game that was conducted a number of years ago about the U.S. attacking Iran—we lost because they leveraged the Strait of Hormuz. And he ignores that. He didn’t consult the allies. He thought they would just go along with him. And frankly, he thought it would be over in a minute because he didn’t sort of think through 92 million people, 50 years of history, deeply ingrained institutions in that country. He thinks he’s Superman. And of course, that’s fine when you jump off the building. It’s just a problem when you hit the ground.
