President Donald Trump posted an AI-generated image of himself seemingly in the role of Jesus Christ on Sunday night, complete with the robe-donning president reinvigorating a sick man with his healing hand while a nurse looked on and an American Eagle soared above.

The bizarre — and some would probably argue sacrilegious — post was made about 40 minutes after the president went off on Pope Leo XIV in a blistering social media rant. More on that below.

Trump’s picture had a lot going on in it. Beyond the aforementioned details, a praying woman and a man wearing what looks to be some sort of ICE uniform look on pensively as Trump works his miracle.

The United States is destroying itself

The United States is being murdered, and it’s an inside job. Every department, every branch, every bureau and function of the federal government is being fatally corrupted or altogether dismantled or disabled. All this is common knowledge, but because it dribbles out in news stories about this specific incident or department, the reports never adequately describe an administration sabotaging the functioning of the federal government and also trashing the global economy, international alliances and relationships, and the national and global environment in ways that will have downstream consequences for decades and perhaps, especially when it comes to climate, centuries.

Across the branches of government, the services that are supposed to protect us – nuclear stockpile monitoring, cybersecurity, counter-terrorism – are being undermined, understaffed or trashed. A different kind of protection that consists of public health, vaccination programs, food safety, clean air and water, social services, civil rights and the rule of law is also under attack. The federal government that serves us is being starved while the federal government that serves the Trump agenda and the oligarchy is glutting itself on taxpayer money, including the grotesque sums dumped on the Department of Homeland Security and the US military now being warped into Pete Hegseth’s twisted vision of a ruthless mercenary force.

It is striking that the Trump team’s constant refrain is that we cannot afford to protect the vulnerable or provide for the people, which is why the richest person in the world, Elon Musk, atop Doge, destroyed USAID last year, which has already resulted in tens of thousands of deaths from starvation and preventable disease. The Iran war is creating a fertilizer crisis in Europe, Africa and Asia that may also result in widespread famine. Meanwhile, the former head of homeland security Kristi Noem spent more than $200m on an ad campaign starring herself before she was fired.

Trump said in his droning dullard speech last week: “We can’t take care of daycare. We’re a big country ... We’re fighting wars ... It’s not possible for us to take care of daycare, Medicaid, Medicare, all these individual things.” Your money, our money, our public lands, our kids. Trump even bribed the builders of offshore windfarms almost a billion dollars to stop, just because he has a personal vendetta against the clean energy systems. The US used to lead the world in scientific research, including medical research, which had led to important breakthroughs in disease treatment and health, but all that has been slashed to the bone and beyond. This is murder.

Thousands of pages of documents about DOGE have recently been shared with groups that filed public records requests last year, and The Post reviewed a significant portion of these troves to better understand what new information has been revealed. Many of the pages had redactions, and the files still do not provide the full context of DOGE’s work in government.

The Trump administration has fought to withhold information about what DOGE did and argued that the group is not subject to the Freedom of Information Act, asking the Supreme Court last month to overturn an order from the U.S. District Court for D.C. to provide records to Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW). The administration has also argued that Musk and Amy Gleason, the person who the administration had said was leading DOGE, should not have to sit for depositions.

CREW’s chief counsel, Nikhel Sus, said the effort to shield DOGE from FOIA mandates is a delay tactic to impede CREW’s ability to access records — and hold up other cases.

“There’s a domino effect,” Sus told The Post. “These delay tactics are impeding the ability to get answers in this case and other cases.”

White House spokesman Davis Ingle did not directly respond to The Post’s questions about the government’s efforts to withhold information about DOGE or the new details revealed by litigation and public records requests but said the government has “fully complied with discovery requests.”

“President Trump was given a clear mandate to eliminate waste, fraud and abuse from the federal government,” Ingle said in a statement. “In just a year, he has made significant progress in making the federal government more efficient to better serve the American taxpayer.”

This reminds me of an article I just read wherein it talks about Kevin Warsh's belief that Alan Greenspan's success at the fed was due to the fact that he trusted anecdotes over data. In the article, the author undermines this understanding of Greenspan's success, pointing out Greenspan's reputation for digging intensively into the numbers, with specific examples of how Greenspan's research informed his policy. Warsh's attitude is a typically conservative self-fulfilling prophecy. Conservatives mistrust experts and traditional authority figures like the deep state, and so instead they lean on intuition, anecdotes, and personal experience to inform their conclusions. We can see this efect playing out in the recent attempts to investigate fraud by Nick Shirley, J.D. Vance, and Mehmet Oz. Instead of basing their inquiries upon actual data documenting fraud and abuse, their investigations are driven by collections of anecdotes and their impressions formed through personal experience, largely informed by a distrust of government and other traditional authorities. This is a profoundly stupid way to arrive at the conclusions and theories that drive one's policy decisions, and is amply reflected not only in the failures of this administration and MAGA claims, but a history replete with examples of Republican states and administrations underperforming. The problem is that it's impossible to convince someone whose personal experience tells them one thing, even if the data and evidence says something else. This is doubly problematic with conservatives whose core ideology reinforces their dependence upon anecdote and personal experience.

A man guaranteed he’d “kill the president” in shocking messages sent directly to the CIA and White House, Wonderall.com an reveal.

The Justice Department announced that as recently as March 17, 2026, a man identified as 29-year-old Michael Kovco of Chicago threatened to assassinate President Donald Trump, his son Barron Trump, 20, and U.S. Secret Service agents in a series of “ambush” attacks.

“I’m going to take a serrated knife and saw Barron Trump’s head off after I successfully stake out the president of the United States with a high caliber sniper rifle permanently aimed at the White House lawn from a local vantage point,” the Illinois man allegedly declared in a disturbing message to the official White House website.







“I’m literally gonna find out how Barron Trump walks around in NYC or DC or wherever the f*** he is and run at him with a serrated bread knife and saw that motherf*****’s head off,” the threat continued.
Per the DOJ’s federal complaint, the suspect warned, “I have absolutely every intent of plotting and carrying out an active assassination attempt against the President of the United States of America. This is a serious threat.”

Bit of advice to any future potential assassins: it's not always the best idea to detail your plans to the people guarding your target(s).
