The way Repubs work in what they claim, it's just more of the same misdirection. "Hey, look over here"...(while we covertly do this over there)...

While generally speaking you're correct about this, there's nothing covert about doubling insurance premiums or denying paychecks to solders who are still forced to duty or protecting molesters. And as costly as these overt moves are, those covert moves you fret over had better pay off goddamned good, because I believe that if they continue these policies they will most likely lose the House next year. "You voted to deny servicemembers pay while they were forced to duty, while you collected your paycheck during the shutdown." "Your vote for Trump's bill is costing me an extra $250 a month in premiums, while you get free health care from the government." "You're 'tough on crime' but won't permit the investigation of a list of molesters." Those are some of the attacks they will receive in the upcoming year unless and until they come to their senses.
I doubt the average repub voter pays close enough attention to any of the finer details that hurt them in the long run. Or else they wouldn't be repubs. They're similar to theists in that way, believing the word from the political pulpit while considering anything else to be "fake news".

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.
What fresh hell can this be? - Dorothy Parker
Gee, I hope he's ok
