Yes, I believe that psychiatric diagnoses contain a very large subjective element. Psychiatrists can reach very different diagnoses concerning the same patient.

I agree that we have to keep an open mind, and just accept that we hold some things to be true despite a lack of objective evidence.

It's pretty telling how you can't seem to apply this standard of objectivity equally. Do you have objective evidence for denying this person the right to identify any way that they wish? If not then kindly look at the objective evidence for the increased rates of assault, sexual assault, and murder perpetrated against trans individuals and the resulting increase in suicide rates. It's about as clear as you can get where the harm and wrong is in this equation.

I have never said that anyone should be denied the right to identify any way they wish. In fact I've said very clearly that I support trans people and their right to choose. 

I have also said that crime against them, as against anyone, is bad. 

So I don't think I'm applying the standard of objectivity unequally.

I think clear implication of my comment is it wouldn't matter who I believe because because even the existence of a trans brain wouldn't mean all transpeople have said brain.

It also means that people who change their gender do it willingly and that they are not being "made" against their will like Frankenstein's monster - is this the subject of this thread? Because what do trans people have to do with Frankenstein and his monster? If you read the original post it's not clear except that he was trying to say that trans people are being "made" against their will?

Yes, I agree with you. 

I don't think we'll ever get to a point where a scientific test could determine with certainty who is cis and who is any of the other many possibilities. Nor would I want to get to a situation where a person could say "I'm trans" and a scientist could reply "no you're not I proved it."
