US Strikes on Iran (Operation Epic Fury)
RE: US Strikes on Iran (Operation Epic Fury)
About 120 U.S. military veterans were arrested inside the Cannon House Office Building today protesting Trump's war on Iran.

Some were on crutches. Some were in wheelchairs. Some carried the burial flags of fallen soldiers.

Capitol Police handcuffed disabled veterans and dragged them out of the rotunda.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Where are the assaults on police officers? Where are the Congresspersons running in fear for their lives? Where is the trashing and looting of lawmakers offices?

I'm no expert, but this looks like a classic case of exercising the right 'to peaceably assemble.'

Irans ayatollahs have made trump their bitch. Even worse. He did it all by himself.

He garrotted himself, and all they have to do is open/close Hormuz at will. Even better, they close Hormuz and the rest of the world will abandon trump more and more if he does not react.

These guys must have a field day

^I disremember the exact wording (and can't be arsed to look it up), but there's a line in Dune about having the power to destroy a thing is to have total control of that thing.

I guess even Trump et. al. did nazi that coming.

Seriously, its a worst case for the US and a best case for Iran. Sure The US and Israel can kill Iranian govmt officials and can rain death and destruction over its people, to a certain degree, but Iran will be clearly able to easily outlast the US. Its a vast country with a problematic landscape from a military perspective and features a battle/war/sanction hardened people of 90mio.
Hell doesnt Trump et al know that Iran went through a devastating war with Iraq? It lasted 8y, Iran suffered between 250k-500k casualties. Mustard gas was used, children and teens sent to the frontlines in suicide attacks. The current US admin has no fucking idea what kinda people it is dealing with, but why would it? Incompetence and ignorance is not a bug, its a feature. Those are feathers you are proudly wearing on your MAGA caps. The long term results are painfully obvious and are materializing now.

That being said. Didnt the US now have to prepare to pay back up to 150bn$ of illegal taxes to foreign companies? Another complete and unmitigated disaster is about to set in.
Fun fact: Date of issuing this payback because someone was a megalomaniac is April, 20th. Also April 20th: Adolfs birthday.

My opinion on the Strait of Hormuz situation is that it won't be settled as long as Trump is in power, which could last up to three more years. He is too demented and insane to fix the situation. In the meantime, people will try to cope by finding other routes—like driving some of the oil through the desert—and also tightening their belts to save on oil, like reducing airfare, driving less, and perhaps even lowering their meat consumption.

At this point no one is able to accurately read the situation in Iran. And all major actors of the world (Gulf countries, Europe, China and other medium powers) are surprisingly silent on the whole issue.

The only thing of substance that is happening right now is Emmanuel Macron’s Lebanon policy. France has been involved with this region as early as the middle ages. There is a significant Christian population there too. So while he is making some efforts to strengthen the Lebanese state and try to avoid it becoming a Palestine 2.0 the US and Israel do not seem to be wanting him to show any presence in that region.

But most people will agree that Israel is completely out of control right now. Many people are increasingly voicing their concerns about the current Israeli government that seems to believe it can solve anything and everything by brute force only.

But Israelis are supposed to go to the poles on October. So if this extreme-right coalition government goes, there might be more room for more logical approaches in the whole region including with Iran.

As long as it keeps Bibi out of trouble in court, the situation will only get worse.

Iran not only refuses further negotiations, it doesn't even bother to show up, is keeping the Strait of Hormuz blocked — and Donald Trump, after all the bravado, threats of extermination, and chest-thumping, just extends the truce, does nothing, and waits for the regime to “submit their proposal”.

If that’s not a humiliating fiasco and a display of complete weakness, I don’t know what is.
