That's Trump trying to do diplomacy. Yes, he's very, very bad at it. He understands it only as how he gets stuff without hitting people. He is a self-proclaimed master of one-dimensional chess, and a pro at half-court tennis. He hyper-fixates on a single objective and will throw anybody and anything under the bus to get it. Right now he's desperate for a win in Iran, any sort of a win, so he's going to give them pretty much anything they want as long as they let him walk away with his pride. The Ayatollahs know this and they're going to use it to get everything that they want.

(Bold mine)

He’s made his usual mistake in thinking he’s smarter than everyone else. His sense of personal infallibility has blinded him to the fact that he’s desperate to end this war, which is allowing the Iranians to play him like a cheap fiddle.

Anybody want to bet that the Iranians quiet down just enough to keep things on a simmer and then hit him hard in October when they can really squeeze some concessions out of him?

I saw in my feed that it's estimated that Iran can go two months before they'd need to cut back oil production.

Still I am reading that this “blockade” move has been planned by the pentagon for years:

https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/trum...00922.html

- This does make sense to me. Iran can and is threatening the world economy with the Strait of Hormuz (Legally speaking this is an act of piracy). Today they condemned a young female protester that was arrested in January to death. Completely ignoring international calls to release all of these (mostly) peaceful protesters.

So the US is doing something that seems much smarter than a ground operation. No one knows what a ground operation in Iran would look like + even the MAGA base would not support D. Trump if he made such a move.

So maybe it’s his military advisers who advised him very intelligently. The world economy will suffer. It is already suffering. But we are the world. Even if this things lasted for a year or so we would find solutions for our natural gas, petroleum products, fertilizers etc. just like we did find masks during COVID. But in Iran, all they can get will be a limited amount of products from the Caspian Sea and other land routes with very limited abilities to sell their oil and hence support their murderous regime further.

Yet all of this is to be taken with a grain of salt. This entire D. Trump administration is unlike anything we have ever seen in the US in previous years Sad

It's looking like Trump is going to pull a rabbit out of a hat with Iran. The Strait of Hormuz is reported as completely open this morning. Now let's talk enrichment....

Hmmm.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

Christ almighty Leo. The Donald didn’t go into Iran to open the straight of Hormuz. It was open before he bombed them.

Let’s all take a moment to remember the order of events. Donald ripped up a nuclear deal because a black man who was better than him in every way made it. Then he obliterated the enrichmenment program. Then he bombed the living shit out of them for still having an enrichment program. Now he’s threatening war on the ground if they don’t open the strait that was open before all this and make a deal like the one they had before this.

There are no brilliant moves….or in fact any movement at all, going on here. It’s a bunch of people following around a senile old man who keeps shitting on the furniture

A lot of people seem to be missing how Iran bitch slapped Trump. The timeline:

-Trump attacks Iran.

-Iran closes the Strait.

-Trump takes credit for a semi-ceasefire.

-Israel continues to attack Lebanon.

-Iran tells Trump to make Israel stop attacking Lebanon.

-Trump does what he’s told and (probably legitimately this time) takes credit for an Israel-Lebanon ceasefire.

-Iran opens the Strait.

Trump doesn’t have the cards he thought he did, and Iran’s non-state allies know they’ll be backed up. This is a massive win for the Iranian regime.

Quote:Iran said Saturday that it had reasserted control over the Strait of Hormuz because the United States was maintaining a naval blockade, just hours after Iranian officials and President Trump had said that the critical waterway was open, raising hopes for an end to the six-week war.

The announcement added more confusion to the status of transit through the strait, where Iran had choked global energy supplies by menacing nearby ships during the war with the United States and Israel. Iran’s military, in a statement carried by government media, said it was now “under strict control” unless the United States ended its own blockade of Iranian ports.

Quote:Meanwhile, Iran’s tyrants have proven quite willing to wantonly slaughter their own civilian protesters to preserve their grip on power. So the answer to the question of who can “endure more pain” in the Iran conflict should be obvious: It’s not us.
