I hear the Islamic Republic of Japan are sending Godzilla to close the Strait of Hormuz.

Yahoo News

... And Mitterrand from Germany is still refusing to send warships to keep the Strait of Hormuz open. :Smile

I really which a more conventional type was in charge of the US Army right now. The one thing about wars and high budget armies is that they are not for free. This Idaho man who miraculously survived a double snake bite (being administered a total of 54 doses of anti-venom) now needs to pay a 1,2 million dollar Hospital bill for the rest of his life:

In the Old World the State would have at least paid some part of this hospital bill but if I am correct, there is no such thing in the USA.

On the other hand, this is clearly a hostage situation. Once again Iran is hitting airports, civilian infrastructure, desalination plants. It call on Jordanians to resist to the non-Muslim Americans (as if Iran itself was some sort of a “Muslim” country since 1979). It calls on Houthis to block access to Reed Sea trade routes. It threatens to hit pipelines in Saudi Arabia.

Also: Look at the side-effect of our fossil fuel powered economies. We are the …ches of the countries where these liquid minerals are being produced. This power source is the most anti-democratic power source ever. You can build wind and solar energy plants basically everywhere. Right now Oil has to go through Marine Straights at the other edge of the world to finally end up in the tank of our thermal vehicles. It warms the planet. Pollutes the seas. And these materials are supposed to simply stay underground anyway.

^Fossil fuels are not minerals. Additionally, please don’t feel obligated to post whatever appears in your head. This is not your personal blog.

Quote:Iranian officials, in turn, have defied Mr. Trump as they push their own demands — including one that they had not made before war.

“Accept reality once and for all. So far, you have suffered major strategic defeats,” Kazem Gharibabadi, the Iranian deputy foreign minister, said on social media. “The Strait of Hormuz has been Iranian, is Iranian, and will remain Iranian.”

Fox News Host Slams U.S. Troops as ‘Weak’ in Stunning Rant

Fox News host Joey Jones erupted on sailors complaining about conditions aboard a U.S. aircraft carrier deployed in the Iran war, blasting them as “weak.”

In a segment Saturday on Fox’s The Big Weekend Show, Jones can be heard huffing out an annoyed breath as he listens to a member of the USS Abraham Lincoln’s crew complain about the food they are being served.

“How weak are you?! On TV, complaining about tuna and noodles?” Jones rants after the segment, which first aired on CNN Thursday, is done.

“I’m sorry, you volunteered to serve your country. You can come back, get out of the military, and do like all these Democrat veterans and complain about it, and make commercials, and be a sellout if you want to,” he continues.

Just because someone volunteers for something doesn't mean he can be abused.

And Trump said that "It’s the sailors’ fault. Their families are lying. They haven’t been deployed long enough."
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

The Strait of Hormuz is open. At least for ships who are willing to take the risk:

+ D. Trump is sanctioning countries who would be willing to continue buying oil from Iran.

Although I don’t really trust the current US administration on this issue this regime is causing problems beyond the Women-Life-Freedom movement. Turkey + Saudi Arabia + Pakistani have recently signed a pact of mutual protection (Egypt and other countries could join). So no one knows what an IRI that collects revenue from the strait of Hormuz + sells Oil to South-East Asia + get reparations from the US + is not facing any economic sanctions anymore can do to the region. Even this alliance would quickly fall apart and the Revolutionary guards would become the new bosses of the whole region.

+ (sorry BrianSoddingBoru). Israel has started hitting bases in Syria. There are Turkish troops that are trying to assist the new Syrian government to reassert itself in Syria. And the mad man Netanyahu is hitting targets in Syria.

/ So we all need to be very careful here. This is a very sensitive region and if we don’t try to handle the whole thing with a lot of care, who knows what else can happen here? Sad

Sorry about what, exactly?

I’m not overly concerned about Trump sanctioning countries who deal with Iran. Iran’s biggest trading partners are China, Iraq, Turkey, the UAE, India, Pakistan, and Russia. With the exception of the UAE, any one of these (looking at YOU, China) are highly likely to tell Trump to go kick rocks. If one does, the rest will follow and Iran’s smaller trading partners will realize that Trump’s bluster means next to nothing.

A point that people seem to be missing is that, by threatening sanctions, Trump is making the tacit admission that the war is lost (at least the military aspect of it).
