Blinding of an attacker in Iran

Also, there are rules in the Quran regarding the way Muslims should defend themselves physically.

Yea, violence is only justified when facing extreme violence...or you know, if someone decides to commit the sin of apostasy, then they are fair game too despite being no threat.

Maybe you missed it, Skipper, but I have explained earlier that the sin of apostasy is not punishable at all unless if the apostate harms other Muslims after leaving Islam.

See this post post and this post. I'll quote it here again. Especially take a look at the links below:

Quote:Unlike some of you posted here, the strongest opinion is that there should be no punishment for apostasy. The death penalty was only imposed by the Prophet when apostasy was combined with a treasonous act, meaning that an apostate would betray or violently rebel against the Muslim state, and thereby endangering the safety of the people. There is no report that the Prophet ever ordered a death penalty on someone just for losing his or her faith in Islam. Therefore, everyone is free to express their belief/disbelief as they wish. Apostasy is only punishable by death when the apostates try to cause harm or damage to the citizens of the state.

In this case I would say that the punishment equals the crime.

If it isn't a big deal in Islam, and people are not punished for apostasy, then why is it even mentioned? Treason is a bad enough crime to warrant punishment, treason is a crime in every country, why couple it at all with apostasy? Furthermore, when your "prophet" was deciding law, why would they even mention apostasy and treasonous activity as nonexclusive criminal activity unless they viewed apostasy and treason as equal crimes?
