The latest miracle!

RE: The latest miracle!
I would not doubt that some nutter on some blog is saying this proves the world will end on the 21
I do not think it is necessary to believe that the same God who has given us our senses, reason, and intelligence wished us to abandon their use, giving us by some other means the information that we could gain through them

I vote for 75% willful ignorance, 25% lack of understanding. Maybe more willful ignorance, because when you try to explain it to them in ways they should be able to understand, they still insist that it's a miracle.

Simple things confuse simple minds, what do think complex things will do to such simple minds?
If they can't understand the simplest of natural things, then they have no hope of understanding anything. No wonder so many of them fail to get evolution. It's just too complex for them. So they jump to the only thing they can get, an imaginary friend. Don't get much simpler and dumber than that. No thought or knowledge required.

I don't think those who sign on to " miracles " are interested in understanding that much. Belief in the imaginary friend leads inexorably to seeking to somehow prove it exists.....enter the " miracle ".

Definitely wilful ignorance. Instead of looking at all possibilities, they skip all that that and go for that old routine: god did it.
It isn't too hard to explore and learn, to turn the unknown to known.
Back when we knew nothing of the sea, theists say "goddidit", when we knew nothing of the sun, theists say "goddidit", when we knew nothing of the cosmos, theists say "goddidit". We now know of all these things and can tell you in detail how they function and how they even came about. Thing is, god exists only in the unknown, and since we don't know where the universe came from, once again theists do that typical thing and say "goddidit". This is why I ignore and laugh at them.
Just because we don't know, doesn't mean a fucking god was behind it, but try telling them that.
Why does it have to be a god anyway?

Miracles are only visible and obvious to those who know no better. Only the ignorant see miracles. Only the foolish.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence - Carl Sagan

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity.

Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.

You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.

It saddens me that this sort of natural event can be mistaken for a miracle in this day and age in a modern country.

Just goes to show that some people are too willing to see their god and invent evidence.

You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid.

The thing that pisses me off is when a Christian gets into a car accident and survives, or their house is blown away in a tornado and they survive, "it's a miracle we weren't killed!" Yeah, God gets all the credit for sparing their lives, but none of the blame for putting their lives in danger to begin with. But what about all the people who have died in car accidents or tornadoes? Were they just not as lucky to have "miracles" happen in their lives? Oh, right, "God called them home." (insert puking smiley emoticon here)
