Why don't people just make up their own religion?

God didn't strike him down with lightning but it sounds like religion is only real to you when it suits you best?

A freethinker isn't necessarily an atheist, it's just someone who uses science, reason and logic to determine conclusions. Unfourtunately people will often come to different conclusions all the time. What he supposedly said to you after you told him such though is probably just the kind of response you can expect from a bible bashing nut head. They often have their favourite lines out of the bible, which they often don't understand themselves.
Many people like this follow blindly, and it's rather ironic how christians would probably call you a sheep which has strayed from the flock... as opposed to being a sheep which blindly follows what their preacher says.

These sort of people are morons, and I consider it best to just let them think whatever the fuck they want. You can only have a reasonable conversation with someone who wants to be reasonable. It's better not to even let them get started with you, because even when you present them with clear contradictions with the verses they spout, or point out that they simply are irrelevant or untrue, they will just cling on to them and completely ignore what you have to say.

Until these sorts of people are truly 'open' to what you have to say it's best to just leave them the hell alone Big Grin

Religion with him was brought up everyday in school when we have to say the pledge because I don't say "under god" in the pledge. But for some reason everybody expects you to be christian.

Yeah it's shit that your country does that. I'm in the UK so I don't actually get to bible bash like that YIPPEEE. The most we had to do in school was sing a few hymns about god and how he has a hammer or some other some shit.

"He's got the whole world, in his hands" FUCK OFF!

But yeah, just don't say under god. They can't force you, can they?

Lol Napoleon, my social studies teacher is a christian fanatic and has over 30 crosses in her classroom and we got a new student from some other country. We went to say the pledge and he just stood up, and my social studies teacher got on to him in front of class over not saying the pledge. Well due to his religion he wasn't aloud to say it. So his parents had to come up and talk to the teacher. When i say the pledge i just drop the "under god" part. They can't force me to say it, and if you had to sing a few hymns about god than it would be illegal in america because seperation of state and church, but technically they aren't really "separated" far enough. I found this article over it, just makes me laugh with their logical reasoning. http://civilliberty.about.com/od/religio...-State.htm

I had a cultural studies teacher like that. She was always trying as hard as she could to promote christianity, it made me want to puke. But your teacher sounds like an ass, throw a paper aeroplane at that bitch.

Napoleon you don't know half the shit I've had with her. 7th grade she caught onto me being atheist so every time i would turned my paper in, i would get my mid-term and it would show up i never turned it in? So after dealing with this at the end of the year i had to get my parents to come talk to her and she stopped. Literally the teachers up at my school are all pricks except my reading teacher. We had to get pictures taken and I was sitting in math doing nothing and my social studies teacher was the one that was taking pictures and for some odd reason they started questioning me saying "why were you sitting their doing nothing?" so i just sat there and didn't say a word. But this year (my 8th grade year) she stopped doing it after my mom had to talk to her, she actually took my papers. And all my friends would watch me take my paper up to her and we would make a joke about it never being turned in, and one time we were joking about it so the next day i went up to see my grade and she says "you didn't turn it in". And she does try to promote christianity with all of her crosses but its perfectly legal because it's "social studies". We were having a class discussion on our basic rights and it had to deal with separation of church and state, well this guys son they made him preach about god by singing hymns, well the father didn't like it took him to court and we had to choose who actually won the case. Our teacher asked us if we were in favor of the school than raise your hand, everybody in class other than me raised their hand. So next she wanted people in favor of the dad to raise their hand, i did. So after i raise my hand i hear this redneck yell out "he's atheist his opinion doesn't matter!" and all the social studies teacher does is say "connor". If it was me I would be in so much fucking trouble if i said that about christianity. I fucking hate religion.

MTP, do you go to a public school? Where are you at? I'm curious to know because it sounds like you live in the south. I know that would never have been tolerated at my school, and I live in a fairly religious town, with respect to the state.

I never say the "under god" bullshit in the pledge. I have no problem explaining why. SO much of the godshit has been added to our national verbiage reasonably recently, it is a sad sign of the times, and by that I do not mean the end days.

Yes, I go to public school in Richmond, Ky. It's even impossible to get a job over here at a public school because you have to have friends or be their favorite, they don't care whether you are a good teacher. I can't stand half the teachers at my middle school (just got out of 8th grade) the teachers don't care about the students its basically the teacher walks over slaps a paper on your desk and says "if you don't know it, then you're retarded". Trust me my mom has worked her ass off trying to be a elementary teacher but they keep picking favorites so she's finally gave up on teaching and getting a job at a hospital. It's a shame a teacher that is smart and actually gives a fuck about the students can't get a job at teaching. Either you have to be a favorite, a sexy young teacher, or you got to beg to get a job. Bullshit!

People actually let their believes of a magical man up in the skies affect their everyday life and causes them to act ignorant to people that don't believe what they believe. Welcome to America, the system that through us away 30 years ago!

Sounds like it really sucks.

If you're stuck in a shitty situation like that I'd try and make the most out of it. Take a baby into school and nibble on its arm. That should fuck them up.
