However, from what I have seen from most atheists, it is about a fear of the unknown. They may not always label it as fear, but it is still fear. They focus on their fear in a way to remove it from their sight. I know most on this site would not like this explanation at all, but it is what it is....we're all still human after-all and such fear is a human trait not unique to the close-minded religious folk we often pin it on (Salem Witch Trials, Inquisition, Crusades*, etc.)
*Crusades were more about corruption, but there must have been those who feared the Moslems as well.
Prove it, prove that it is fear that motivates us and not contempt for the continued unreasoning and unreasonable belief in an outdated and repeatedly disproven mythology.

You might've noticed this aversion of real, solid proof.
I am curious as to know what I am so afraid of. In fact, I believe theists are the frightened ones. I honestly think religion breeds through fear of death.

It always comes back to death. It always returns to some fantasy afterlife, which I think highlights the fear they have. I mean, if they weren't afraid.....why mention it so much? Why so assuredly if you know you could be wrong?

Total nonsense.
For me the unknown is very interesting. It sparks my curiosity. Besides, I'm sure when it comes to fear, it goes the other way. The religious and the unavoidable death and oblivion. Some can't stand the idea of going to sleep and never waking up again.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence - Carl Sagan
Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity.
Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.
You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.

Atheists are most interested in the unknown, which is why they don't cop out via belief escapism.

Fair enough too; I'd be fucking terrified of death if I believed in a cunt like YHWH.
Instead, like all animals,I fear DYING,not actually being dead, as I'm unable to believe being dead is an experience.
The REALLY annoying irony is that if I'm wrong,I'll know immediately. If theists are wrong, the bastards will never know.
I might go for Pascals wager if I believed any God worth worshiping was stupid enough to fall for that crap.

That simple irony has bugged the shit out of me all of my life.
They come on here with their made up shite, peddling it, then they even say stuff like "well, we'll know for certain when we die" - no, no we fucking won't, because we'll be bastard dead. Expired. Evaporated. No more. D-E-A-D. Gone.
You are currently experiencing a lucky and very brief window of awareness, sandwiched in between two periods of timeless and utter nothingness. So why not make the most of it, and stop wasting your life away trying to convince other people that there is something else? The reality is obvious.

Exactly what they cannot deal with. They think they are so fucking special that there is no way the world can go on without them.

Which isn't saying much. All theists have in common is belief in at least one God or gods. All atheists have in common is the lack. Skeptics and humanists, on the other hand, seem to get on better than the 30,000 odd Christian sects.

A 'freethinker' is just someone who doesn't use appeal to authority and dogma as a way of getting people to agree with them or as a justification for force.
