She was a train wreck; I don't think there is any way of denying that. Media or no media, it's hard to look at Amy Winehouse and not think she was messed up on drugs.

Can you not show sympathy for such a person? Is that too much to ask?

Well, suicide has a long and impressive history as one of those things you don't find a lot of support for. We wish to live, and feel very uncomfortable when one of us decides to go ahead and end it all. We come by that sentiment pretty naturally.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Apparently she died of alcohol withdrawl, so the irony is that what did for her was her desire to better herself.

a shame really.

But she was one of those celebrities whose death came as no surprise at all.

You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid.

If that's the case then it's a truly horrible way to go and she has my sympathy.

I guess she didn't know what the effects were to suddenly come off alcohol after long abusive use of it. Sudden withdrawal can cause your body to go into shock for which in many cases, is fatal.

I reckon a little alcohol education could save so many lives. Seeing as it is one of the biggest killers in the world.

You have no idea. Uncontrollable shaking, sweating, increased heart rate and not to mention the fear that comes with it. You'll experience all this. It can last from a few minutes to a couple or so hours. Some cases it's not too bad, it depends on the person and how much they've been drinking and for how long when they come off it all of a sudden. Either way, it's a nasty way to go.

Alcohol education!
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence - Carl Sagan

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity.

Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.

You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.

That is what her family is claiming. The toxicology report won't be completed for weeks yet. Alcohol withdrawl is what her family wants her to have died from... but that doesn't make it true.

Either way... her death was anything but surprising. I am surprised it took as long as it did... but then again... she had to wait until she was 27.

No, you have no idea of the idea I have (If that makes sense). I've got the t-shirt. You're right that education is the key though, many medical professionals don't even know the dangers of alcohol withdrawal.
