Hi, my name is ----- and I'm an atheist
August 1, 2011 at 4:36 am
Hi, I'm new here. Just wanted to join a community, and be part of something I believe in.
To tell you a bit about myself, I have been raised as a muslim for most of my life, which I followed without thinking about it or asking any questions. It was only a couple of years ago, when I started thinking about it, and realised that I don't actually believe in it. No one I know really knows this, which is why I joined this website, so I could confess. I don't know how many muslims you get here, but living in an islamic based country, and being a muslim atheist is a BIG NO NO!!!!!
In terms of discussing in-depth theories, you're not going to get any intelligent comments from me. I've seen some of the posts on here, and people are quoting darwin and other smart people that I don't know, and saying really smart things. I became an atheist through logical thinking, although that's probably how other atheists came to their understanding.
People who follow a religion probably think that atheists are crazy and have no direction. But I think it's even crazier to believe in something you've never seen, nor can be proven. These religious books that people read were not sent down by god, they were written by human beings claiming it was from god. The only difference is that if you did that nowadays you would end up in a padded cell wearing a straight jacket.

Welcome. What the hell posesed your parents to give you a name like -----? Is that a Muslim name?
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

A Muslim Atheist...
Atheists prefer not to think, that why they don't like belief without evidence
To me belief is the nadir of rational thinking, although I respect an atheistic viewpoint to be honest and valid. Obviously I think it misses the point and flounders as a consequence.

From me neither, buddy, but that doesn't stop me from posting anyways! *muahahahhaa!*
Welcome!
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

It is nice to see another escapee from the clutches of Allah

To precise a lot of people would think you are crazy if you say invented a whole new set of religious beliefs, instead of joining or creating a religion which has some 'pedigree' in their dogma (i.e, copies from more established religions). For example people aren't likely to think you are insane for believing in Biblical Christianity or even Quranic Islam. However they are likely to believe you are insane if you were a believer in Scientology.
In my opinion the stuff which Biblical Christianity preaches, for example; the second coming of Jesus, where the dead will be resurrected, then judged and possibly the destruction and recreation of the universe. If say you were to totally invent that notion, it would be considered by every right thinking person to be completely bonkers.

Since when has he ever made any sense?
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence - Carl Sagan
Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity.
Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.
You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.
